Sometimes I wish my baby wasn't so ugly

I'm kidding!! I think my DD is the most beautiful thing my eyes have ever seen.

Does anyone remember that Seinfeld episode where the couple has the really ugly baby, they never actually show the baby (but Elaine gags every time she looks at him.) I watched the re-run recently. It got me wondering if H and I could ever be like that couple. DD could be a little blob baby and we wouldn't know the difference. To us she is the cutest, most perfect baby ever. I guess we are THOSE parents but atleast we admit it!

Do you think there is such a thing as an ugly baby? Or do you think all babies *are* cute in their own way?

I was so scared I would have ugly babies! All of my older siblings had children (7 nieces and nephews) and they were all beaUTIFUL babies, so I thought I was doomed. Plus, I wasn't the most beautiful baby in the world, I was a potato head with giant ears...

Luckily, they didn't get my ears, and beautiful babies must just run in the family! Wink

My brother was such an ugly baby. He had a giant cone head and a huge nose. He looked like a little old man. He was an adorable toddler though. I of course made up for it with my stellar beauty.

I have seen some ugly babies. But I don't think a parent could ever recognize it. But I think it's more common to have a really cute baby turn into a weird looking kid, so I'm not sure which is worse.

THIS!!! I silently pray that they grow into whatever deformity they have... my little cousin looked like a hairy alien baby for years...she still looks odd but not as alien

Your babies are very dangerous. They make me want twins everytime I see their adorable pictures. I always have to smack myself in the face after I see them.

Back to OP though, I tell Gage everyday that he is the cutest baby in the whole wide world.

I agree with this too!! Watch out!

Oh... and un-cute babies make me uncomfortable because I never know what to say. I also secretly want to stalk them until they grow up to see if they stay ugly or get cuter with age.

I've seen ugly babies. It's pretty much DH's favorite thing in the world to compare our baby to other people's.

While I was PG, my sister told me that she'd inform me if LO was ugly, b/c I wouldn't be able to tell. Thanks sis Stick out tongue

DH and I were absolutely freaking adorable babies/children, seriously, I have the photos to prove it, but we're both weird-looking adults.

I also think there are definitely some non-attractive babies out there, and I agree that it can be hard for a parent to see that. My husband was convinced that our girls were going to be ugly because both of us were kind of ugly babies. Personally, I think I have the cutest babies in the world, but I'm a little biased

But your LO is definitely a cutie, so no worries!

There are ABSOLUTELY ugly babies, and I have the hardest time ever "oohing and aahhhhing" over a beast-creature. I talked to my best friend about it, and she told me to start saying, "What a blessing!" or other vague, non-specific but non-offensive crap. Looking back, Annabelle was a really pretty newborn, but then kind of an alien-old-man combo for a while. Now I think she's just kinda goofy - I love her dearly and adore her silly faces, but I'd never put her in a Gap baby contest or anything.

Yes, there are ugly babies. DH is a pedi and at the hospital they used the term FLK (funny lookin kid). We were super worried that our baby wouldn't be cute. She came out adorable, had a downturn when she lost all of her hair a la old man, but she's super cute again. I nannied for a woman who cried when she saw her second baby because he was as beautiful as her first, but in general, I think parents often don't realize it if their baby is ugly. Love is blind.

I have a friend who's daughter is almost 4, she's not cute. Just not... I feel so bad, I try to make up for it by being really nice to her! Poor thing...

And pretty much everyone I went to school with on my facebook have recently gotten married and had children, the majority of them actually have pretty cute babies (my bestie has the cutest!), but there are some that go on and on about their adorable and precious kids and I'm like wtf... one of your kids eyes isn't even pointing the same way as the other one!! I'm a total betch like that, but there are at least two babies that I was hoping would outgrow the ugly newborn phase, and it's only gotten worse... at least their parents love them!

Would you ever tell anyone on TB that their baby wasn't cute? I don't think I've ever seen anyone on here that had an ugly baby, no joke. We're all awesome like that!

omg i love that episode...esp when the pedi calls elaine breathtaking...and then calls the ugly baby that...LOL...so hysterical!
