  • Anything cooked is fine.

    Cali rolls no eggs

    Dynamite rolls

    Spider Rolls

I just discovered spicy avocado rolls the other day, which is an awesome sub for my beloved spicy tuna roll!

And of course any vegetarian sushi.

  • There's plenty of safe sushi. My favs are shrimp tempura roll and one at our fav sushi restaraunt called the hairy mexican, it has a shrimp tempura inside, and is topped with shredded crab and drizzled with a brown sauce. There are other safe ones too but those are my picks.

  • Over the course of DD2's pg, I probably ate my weight in unagi - its the eel that is cooked and has eel sauce on it... SO YUMMY!!  I can't wait for DH to come home next weekend so I can get my sushi fix....  Cooked rolls and unagi here I come!!

  • I am dying for a "Tuna Sandwich" from one of our favorite Japanese places.  It's tuna, masago, "crunchy" and Japanese mayo sandwiched between rice & soy nori.  SO YUMMY!!!!  I think I might try and persuade H that we need to go to Miso tomorrow so I can have it!

  • A year ago DH had never tried sushi and I have now created a monster. He wants it like 4 times a week! So, I have been doing a lot of veggie rolls. Not really into the fried stuff as much except for tempura sweet potato maki. This place by me has a roll called the Honey Roll with sweet potato, banana, cucumber, carrot and cream cheese. I know it sounds gross but it is SO GOOD!!

  • Anything raw in which the fish has been frozen and thawed prior to making the sushi is fine.  That's automatically 75% of what's available in the US partly because they freeze the fish immediately after catching it to ship it.  Only go to reputable sushi locations that you trust, and either call before going or when you get there, ask the sushi chef which fish has been previously frozen.  They tend to be confused about whether you're going to be mad at them for using frozen fish until you tell them you're PG and then the light dawns over their eyes.  At that point, they'll point out any fish that hasn't been frozen prior to preparation.

I seriously would not have made it through the first trimester without spicy salmon rolls.

Oh, and for while you're waiting for the sushi to come out - I highly doubt I'm the only pregnant woman sent into rapture by Edamame.

  • On the board bc SIL is due in March and think this is such a funny thing that we pregnant women worry about.....what do the women in Japan eat? Most are perfectly safe in the US. My doctor recommended no more than once a week even for raw!
