Toddler rainboots question

With all the rain we got this week and all the cute rainboots and rain jackets I'm seeing, I was thinking of getting some for DS so we can take walks when the rain is light and splash around comfortably instead of being cooped up all day :)  But I'm not sure if he can manage to walk around in those bulky things... he started walking at 10 months and he's practically running now, so he's been wearing shoes for awhile. Do they fit like regular shoes or should I go up a size? Should I just wait until he's a bit older?

Re: Toddler rainboots question

  • My child is 27 months and it took her a while to get a feel for the rain boots. She's walking better in them now than she did in the spring. They are a bit more bulky than regular shoes and I found socks work better with them. The pair I purchased did seem to run a bit larger. A lot of times I find using her Keen sandels work better as they stay on her feet.

  • I have found that they all run a bit big.  He would probably be fine holding your hand but they are a little tough for them to walk/run in.  Molly just put her pair on today and she was a little unstable in them.
  • DS has been wearing them the last few days and is just now getting a good idea of how to walk in them.  I'd say your DS is too young.  What about something that goes over their regular shoes, like these: https://www.stonzwear.co.uk/default.aspx?  I don't know if they'd be super easy to walk in at your DS's age, and they're a little pricey, but if you plan on having another child and get neutral-styled ones, they might be worth it.  Or do some googling and find something similar.  I've seen them on Baby Steals a few times.
