Cosmetics

last time around when I was expecting, I replaced all of my products: face and body wash, eye cream from Belli and used only bare minerals cosmetics. by the time my son came out I was broken out and looked greasy with a face full of makeup (bare minerals doesn't do it for me). This time around I really don't want to give up my products. what are y'all doing?

Re: Cosmetics

  • I'm using Belli face wash and Mario Badescu glycolic products for skincare. I'm not changing my make-up....mineral makeup doesn't work for me...it looks too dry and makes me look older,

Why did you change cosmetics? My OB said the only thing I can't use is anything with Retin-A. He is even okay with salicylic acid in face wash. Not once have I thought about switching make up.

At my old OB (I've moved since then, haven't had first appt with this pregnancy yet) I had to see the nurse practitioner for my first few appts. I brought in everything I was using on my face and body. I guess she was afraid of me coming back and suing or something but she wouldn't tell me that ANYTHING I was using was safe. She just pleaded the fifth. scared the hell outta me, so I went out and replaced my products. probably overkill but what would she expect a nervous new momma to be do?

  • I am a little crazy when it comes to this.  I do have acne, just so you know.  I don't use anything that is deemed as cause reproductive birth defects according to https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/     So I use the Belli pregnancy line products to wash my skin.  I also use garden of eve skin care for their facial masks and they have a cleaner I use as an exfoliant.  I do not like garden of eve's skin care, as it is not moisturizing enough for me.  As far as make-up, I use Afterglow for my foundation and I use their eye concealer for acne flare-ups-I love it so much better than bare minerals. Have't found an eyeliner I love yet.  Hope this helps!!!!!

  • I'm using aveeno face wash, Philosophy moisturizers (face and eye) and bare minerals and origins make up. My exfoliator is some sort of all natural green apple-oatmeal skin peel for sensitive skin. I stopped used anything with retin-a three months before we started trying, but also stopped using my face serum. I kept reading how your face gets more sensitive with pregnancy, and I figured I might as well.

I think you're probably fine with your normal products, aside from some acne products (can't remember which). If you want an all-natural makeup that's not a mineral makeup, then maybe try Origins. I find that bare minerals just doesn't last on my face in the winter, even with primer.

  • Keep your products. I did. I stick with my regimen of MK face wash, moisturizer and Oil of Olay night cream. Makeup is the same, except, now that I'm prego, I rarely apply makeup daily. I'll only do it on the weekends, if I have somewhere to go. The only thing I've changed is my body lotion. I try to use something that is natural and loaded with vitamin E or aloe and that doesn't have much purfume. Hope this helps. Good luck.
