So I am going to leave my very high intervention OB for a very low intervention midwife. I never thought I would do anything like this, but I've been having such severe anxiety related to my doctors trying to pressure me into a repeat c/s. I got very lucky to find a wonderful practice and they've agreed to take me on at 34 weeks. Also, all of the delivery rooms have birthing tubs so I will be able to labor in the water which sounds wonderful to me.
I'm a bit anxious as I am considered high risk due to being "AMA." But the midwives didn't think it was a big deal at all. I guess my OB's have just put these fears into my mind.
Re: Scared and excited - switching care providers!
Good luck. I have also switched from an OB to a midwife. My first appt with the midwife is on wednesday. Keeping our fingers crossed for both of us.
Similar to you instead of being happy and cheery about the appointments to hear the heart beat etc...i was sick with worry and anxiety(I couldnt sleep, cried before appointments) etc...and felt like i was being bullied into a section. (this is not what i want and not what i deserve and certainly not what i am gonna pay for!)
Well barring any unforseen event this baby IS COMING OUT OF MY VAGINA....and i am just hoping that someone helps me delivery the baby!!! Bc I can tell you that i will not willingly go to the OR.
Please keep me posted about your appointment with the midwife...and when you have your beautiful VBAC I will be waiting to read the story!!!!

Yay!! I loved having a midwife. I think there are many OBs that wouldn't have let me labor as long or push as long as I did.
I know when I had an OB for my first, I was lucky if I saw anyone other than a nurse while I was in labor and the OB usually shows up for the end of the pushing.
But I went through 3 midwives at the hospital (because I was in labor so long, and I saw a practice), and they all spent a lot of time in my room. They would come in and just sit with us for like, an hour while I was laboring. To watch me and to help coach me through the contractions. I also had a midwife with me the whole time I was pushing. I think she stepped out of the room once in the whole almost four hours.
I loved it, and I definitely credit my successful VBAC in part to having a midwife.
