New to The Bump

TTC for baby number 1!!

Hello my name is Brittany and I am 23 years old. I am married to my hero who is currently active duty Air Force. We have 2 cats and 1 dog and we are also just started TTC for baby #1. I am charting my BBT on fertilityfriend.com and also checking my CM everyday as well. I have taken a couple of OK the last couple of days and got negative on both days but maybe I'm not timing when to take them right. I am very new to all of this and hope to find some bump buddies and people who are TTC their first babies as well. Hopefully when it happens I hope to find some who are due around the same time as I am! Big Smile Good luck and baby dust to all of us who are TTC babies!

Re: TTC for baby number 1!!

  • Good luck with your TTC! My husband and I tried for 5 months and finally got our BFP. I just wanted to say that charting BBT was EXTREMELY helpful for me! I started it in March and was able to catch the pattern right off and Big Smile that was the month I got pregnant! I wish you and your husband the best of luck on your journey. I will be sending TONS of sticky baby dusty your way!

  • Good luck to you and DH, TTC turned into a science for us, it took 4 months but we learned a lot. Charting your BBT is a good way to start, we also bought our OPK's on amazon. You get like 50 strips for under 20 bucks. They seem cheap but they really work. Everyone tells you to just relax but it's so hard when you are so excited. I read a book that said for the most part us women spend out years trying not to get pregnant then when you want to it doesn't happen right away. Then you think you are pregnant and you want to test and you don't know if you are too early. I actually tested to early and got a negative test, cried for two days and then test again, and now we are due in December. Just stay positive and communicate with DH about how you are feeling and it's ok to cry.

  • Hi Brittany!! My DH and I are TTC baby number 1 too. I'm also 23! Looks like we have some things in common. As far as the OPK's I do have some advice (not expert advice obviously as we don't know if we're pregnant yet). This is our first month trying. I just went off BC end of July, had 2 periods in August and a normal period Sept 6 (23 days after last period). So I figured i'd start the OPK on day 5 (it says to start day 6, some say day 9!) since I have an irregular period anyway. I didn't want to miss. I heard that some people tested 2x a day even as to not miss it. I didn't realize that you could only have the LH surge for only a few hours. I'm sure glad that on day 7 I not only tested in the morning but also in the late afternoon. I tested day 7 in the morning, negative. At 4pm, positive - smiley face, and then again at 7pm, negative! I could have missed it if I only tested once a day at the same time each day. So hopefully that is helpful! We really want to conceive right away so it was worth it to me to use the OPK more than once a day, even though slightly expensive, well worth it to me! If you need a buddy to go through this with, i'm here :) We can be newbies together!

  • Good luck to you.  We also are TTC #1.  I purchased the Wondfo brand ovulation strips from Amazon per many recommendations from fellow bumpies and love them.  The ones bought in stores are definitely nicer but these are so much cheaper and allow you to test multiple times a day without feeling guilty and wasteful.  This cycle I too tested in the morning only to get a negative followed by a positive when I tested again after work.  Once again good luck!!
