I'm impressed, Pedi!

Went for DSs 4month shots today. Our pedi said we should hold off on solids until around 6 months, which I had planned to anyways. He also mentioned that it is recommended that you start solids with meat. I never thought he'd be so up to date! The guy isn't exactly a spring chicken - he was my pedi and I'm 27!

Not saying anything about people that have already started, or plan to start with any other foods - to each their own. But, I was just impressed that our pedi is so up to date that I had to share.

  • I have heard of holding off to 6 mos---we pretty much did that with DS1---but never to start out with MEAT???   Why is that?

  • That's awesome! My pedi has a 6 month old so I have high hopes, she did comment on my cloth diapers being healthier than disposable, so I feel pretty good about it. I think regardless of personal parenting choices (solids, diapering, CIO) it's nice when your pedi agrees.

THere was just an article in the new work times?? about choosing protein, especially meat, for iron absorption and nutrient per calorie ratio.

  • My pedi was the same way at our 4 month appointment. I was very impressed because she was my pedi and I'm 30. It made me feel good about choosing a pedi that is older.

Of course she was highly recommended as well.
