Anyone have any experience with this? I am 28, and had my surgery quite a few years ago. My husband and I are expecting our first child in May 2012. Ever since the procedure I have not been able to feel my left nipple (a semi common side effect of breast aug surgery).
Are there any type of tests or screenings that can be done to determine if I will produce milk okay?
Thanks ladies
Re: Breastfeeding and implants.
i don't have implants.
but i think it would depend on how many milk ducts were disrupted by the placement of the implant, if your body produced any scar tissue, if nerves were damaged, etc. also the type of procedure, i know with some they remove and replace the nipple to place the implant for a less noticeable scar, if it's under or over the muscle tissue, etc. i think you just have to wait and see unfortunately. i'd think if you are able to express colostrum late in pregnancy that would be a good sign, but not everyone can do that anyhow.
The current issue of "New Beginnings" has an article on bf-ing after implants and reductions. The real answer is you won't know until you try, but there is no reason not to try.
