How to clean your Front Loader?

WE have FL Washing Machine that is getting gross. I don't use bleach or hot water too often so you can imagine. I have been using Vinigar as a softener and using hto water for sheets& towels. I did a clean cycle the other day with 2c of vinegar but hoe do I get it really clean? Baking soda??

Here, too. I did a cycle with Affresh and it worked great.

ETA: be sure and leave the door and drawer open when not in use. Wiping the gasket can help, too.

  • Thanks gals, I do leave it ajar and I told the other family members to do the same. I've always tried to clean the inside but it got the best of me and now I would have to scrub it with something lethal to remove the scum (mold?) My towels do seem cleaner :)

I should put this on my calendar to do 1x a month. Maybe try affresh too.

  • After keeping the door open/letting everything dry, etc, I was still getting a musty smell in the drum so I googled my machine model and how to clean it. I didn't realize that I should clean the washer pump filter (mine is on the bottom of the front of the machine- it's an LG). I got the filter out and some really stale smelling water came out (the directions told me to have a towel ready) and after draining all that old water out and washing the filter I have had ZERO smell!
