Maryland Babies

Rec your Towson (or N Balt Co area) Pediatrican

I need to find an office that offers night and weekend hours because last winter I burned through WAY too much leave for sick baby appointments.

Right now I am leaning towards Main Street Pediatrics (Towson Office).  If anyone has specific experience with them, can you please let me know?

  • Weezie, My friend uses main street and really likes them so far. Keep in mind main street you have to pay for parking. * edited If you want the docs name she goes to let me know*

I use pediatric partners ( Dr. minton) and they are wonderful. They have hours util 8 a few days a week and saturday til 12pm. I have called a couple times after hours and they have never charged me like all doctors say they will.

Whoa- what?  I have never heard of drs charging for you to talk to the after hours  on-call doctor!  I guess maybe they have that policy on the books so that if someone calls all the time for little things they have a way to deter that...  but isn't the point to avoid unnecessary ER trips?

When DD was little I called the on-call dr almost once a week for something or another.

  • I guess I understand that some people would abuse the system, but when your husband gets home in the middle of the night from the all night pharmacy with your first bottle of Infant Tylenol only to discover there are no dosing instructions inside, I don't want to have to worry if I am going to get "dinged" for calling the on-call dr!

DD is doing great.  When we first took the helmet off she was bumping her head all the time.  Leah warned us that it would happen, but it was funny and a little sad all at the same time.  She had to learn/re-learn to be more careful.  We used to call her Evie-Kanival when she was wearing her helmet... She was totally fearless- even more so than other kids her age.  She would also use the helmet to head butt stuff.  Surprise

We are really happy with her progress.  She is now pretty well within the "normal" amount of cranial asymmetry.  The total treatment time was 4 months.  She also graduated from her Early Intervention Therapy and is considered "on level" for her actual age (not her prematurity adjusted age.)  When we started with EI they told us to expect her to catch up by 2 and she graduated at 16 months!

The last 6 weeks have been great, because all her therapies are done.  We had NO medical appointments for the entire month of August, the first time in her life that has happened!

It was a nice break, but now fall is around the corner and she is already sick.  YUCK!

    How is your LO doing?

  • We take our son to Cross Keys Pediatrics. He sees Dr. Starr. He has one late night a week and one Saturday a month. It's not the greatest hours, but we really really like him! I'd highly recommend him!
  • We also use Pediatric Partners in Towson. (Dr. Minton)

I am throwing this out there even though I don't know if it's a good option for a pediatrician. Patient First centers let you pick a PCP, so you could choose one there for your whole family. They are open til 10 PM every night.

  • We see Dr. Bodnar at Main Street and we are so happy with the practice in general. They have sick walk in hours Mon-Thurs from 4pm-5:30 and I've used it several times. We've also been seen on a Sunday. Dr. Claybor is also wonderful.
