So I am pg with our 3rd and I was just wondering how everyone else's pregnancies have been compared to each other, especially with regard to symptoms, and how fast you showed. This pg is exactly that same as the other 2, which resulted in 2 girls. Those with one boy and one girl, were your pregnancies different? And how much faster are you showing on your 2+ pregnancy. With my first pg, I didn't really have a bump until 4.5 months. With DD#2, it was around 3.5 months and now with baby #3, DH says I am already showing a rounded bump and I am just at 9.5 weeks. I know they say you show faster, but this is out of control. I am getting such looks at work, where I haven't told anyone yet.
Re: ? for those with 2+ or pg with 2nd
My pregnancies were all different in some ways (increasingly more uncomfortable each time I was pg) and the same in other ways (m/s/Reglan with all three). I can tell you that I showed much, much earlier with #3.
I had two girls and a boy, but there really was no predicting that.
I showed earlier with each subsequent pregnancy. I looked back at photos recently, and with #1 I didn't have a noticeable bump (for the world to know) until almost 26 weeks. With #2, it was more like 16-18. With #3, I was in elastic waists (thank goodness for summer skirts) around 14...but I saw, and could feel, a difference as early as week 8. I gained 27 pounds with #1, 22 with #2, and probably 30 with #3. I had wicked heartburn and indigestion (plus some nausea and food aversions) in the first trimester with my first two, but the same symptoms didn't hit me full-force with #3 until the second trimester.
There were three obvious differences to my pregnancies:
(1) Cravings: With DD, I wanted lots of fresh fruit and ice cream and dairy. With DS, it was more like salty stuff. With #3, I've pretty much been stuffing my face with anything unhealthy I can find.
(2) Linea negra: I clearly had it with DD but not at all with DS or #3.
(3) Breakouts: My skin has been much worse with DD and #3, but with DS I had the best complexion I'd had since I was 13.
i have one of each. my pregnancy had some similarities but also some marked differences:
boy:
wicked food aversions and heartburn
headaches
aches and pains
initial weight loss, followed by slow/steady gain
girl:
no food aversions, heartburn only a few times
dizzy spells
many fewer headaches
bigger initial weight loss, less gain
better overall feeling
slight swelling in 3T
with both of them i had a vulvar varicosity. with both of them i showed early (12 weeks, then 7 weeks). i had to tell work super early because i had a huge belly. i carried the boy "like a girl" (all over) and carried the girl "like a boy" (all out in front). i also felt the baby move much earlier in my second pregnancy...i started feeling flutters around 10 weeks that just got stronger and stronger (and i swear that child STILL hasn't stopped moving!).
i had fewer aches and pains the second time because i was much more active and ate better. i took better care of myself, saw a chiropractor regularly, had monthly massages and saw an acupuncturist in my third trimester.
I'm more of a lurker here but wanted to respond since I had your exact situation. I have 2 girls and one boy. All 3 of my pg were almost identical with only 2 differences. With DS I was freezing ALL the time. I had to wear 2-3 layers of fleece just to stay warm. I also had pg induced insomnia the entire 9 months. I was up 2-3 hrs each night for 9 long months. Aside from that all 3 pg were almost identical.
I never had any morning sickness with any of the pg. Felt fine with all of them-no food aversions or cravings.
I showed about the same time with all of them (around 20-22 weeks). I carried all of my kids like a basketball (all out front).
I have a bump and I'm in maternity clothes. I was in maternity clothe early with DS too. I had a bump super early in my last pregnancy that disappeared the second i miscarried. My doctor said the bump is your body's reaction to pregnancy hormones and it starts making room for the baby
I'm as tired with this pregnancy as I was with my son. I remember a lot more cramping and rond ligament pain with him. I haven't had any of that yet.
I have a bump earlier - 9w vs. 15 weeks with DS. Otherwise, the pregnancies have been pretty similar - horrible "morning" sickness requiring Zofran + Reglan to stay hydrated, but no other complications.
So far this pregnancy has been vastly different than my last. With DS, I was pretty much ok the first tri. Early on I had extreme hunger which subsided about half way through first tri. I had extreme fatigue most of first tri. I had no food aversions, no cravings, no weirdness about food at all. Between weeks 7-10 I had about 10-12 days total of feeling icky in the afternoons. It certainly wasn't all deal, and it wasn't every day even in those short weeks. I felt bloated pretty badly from weeks 5-8. Also, after about week 10 or so, I never got up to pee during the night. Literally, never again (until this pg!)
This pregnancy...
Basically, from the day I found out I was pg (around 4.5 weeks) I felt icky ALL DAY LONG... queasy, gross, however you wish to describe it. I never came close to throwing up but I just felt like garbage AND I was ravenously hungry. All day, and all night (I would wake up at 3am with my stomach growling). I was either starving or felt nasty, there was no in between! I also had massive food cravings... I think I had pulled pork sandwiches from Red Hot & Blue like 8 days in a row once... I sincerely cannot believe I didn't gain any weight during the 1st tri. I ate SOOOO much. And I didn't exercise! So that lasted right up until 12 or even 13 weeks. Since then, most of my symptoms have subsided (I have the occasional bout of ickiness when I haven't eaten for some time though). I feel basically normal, not tired beyond the normal scope of having a toddler and my food habits have tamed significantly. I still get up once a night to pee which I am not fond of at all
So, I am interested to find out this baby's gender (less than a month to go!) I have an instinct but obviously I have no clue if I'm right or not. And of course everyone else has their opinions as well... we shall see!
