Pregnant after IF

PW... Pediatricians

Have you started to research yours yet? I asked my OB for referrals today and she gave me a list but now I don't know what to do with it. Should I call each one and ask questions? And what would I ask? And am I looking into this to early??

What have you done/will you be doing ?

Re: PW... Pediatricians

  • I have no clue (sorry)! But I can tell you that I don't think you're looking too early. According to my pg book, it says that I should start researching drs and I'm only 19w! Btw, it totally freaked me out when I read that I should start this process. I have no idea where to begin either!

    Thanks for posting this! GL!

  • I imagine some doctors are very liberal and would really encourage breast feeding while allowing people to forego vaccines.  then there would be doctors who don't care so much about breastfeeding and would not encourage you to forego vaccines.  So I guess you could ask them questions about that.  Also, some doctors have reviews online if you google their name with "reviews."  You could also check what school they went to.  I would not want someone who went to Aruba medical school.

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

  • my dr gave me a list and circled her favorite ones. i looked them up to see reviews and went back to OB today and asked about 3 specific ones. she told me she loved 2 of them and didn't care for the 3rd. next step for me is to make a list of questions and go in and talk to the 2 she recommended.

  • Lots of the practices have websites so you might be able to get a general feel for their philosophies there - the ones I have chosen make it very clear on their website that you need to find another practice if you do not plan on vaccinating!

Some questions I could think of: hours and availability of appts during "off hours" (evenings and weekends), how long the avg. wait is, how many drs are in the practice (might make it easier to see someone sooner in a large practice).

  • I have my pediatrician all lined up. I asked my friends who they use and the pros and cons to each of them. It helped me to make my decision.
