Sorry it's late this month - I was on vacation and had no internet access!
If you're new, let us know the basics - when did you start TTC, what is your diagnosis/suspicion, where are you at in the process/next steps? Please let us know if you have upcoming treatments, so we can check in with you on a more regular basis during that time. Also read this check-in often the first week it is posted so we can answer everyone's questions. (It seems prolonged to have someone ask a question in this post and not have it answered until next month's check-in!) Finally, if you have suggestions about what else should be included in the check-in or changes, throw them out there!

Questions:
I know we have a couple of new success stories ? spill it girls!
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step?
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related?
3) Any vents/confessions?
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies?
Re: September Infertility Check-in (SAIFW)
Questions:
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step? Will be moving forward in the spring hopefully after insurance is switched in January. Until then we're just trying to get everything else in order (changing banks, paying off a couple of bills, etc.) so that when we can move on we have nothing else to distract or worry us.
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related? I start a new job! I've been very unhappy and bored in my job and I finally applied for and was offered a huge promotion with another agency. It's going to be a real challenge and is an incredible opportunity. I'm very excited and start in 1.5 weeks.
3) Any vents/confessions? This will be my fourth job in four years. It sounds bad, but I promise there are several reasons why it's not as bad as it sounds (for example, I've continually worked for the State for all four years, I've had promotional opportunities, positions have been eliminated because of the budget, etc.). While there have always been valid reasons to change positions, I'm really hoping I can stick at this new position for a few years. Plus it's a schedule where I work four 10 hour days and I'm off on Fridays. That will be nice to have long weekends for when we finally get kids!
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies? Not this month.
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step?
Well, not preventing worked, but sadly I miscarried last month and had to have a D&C on 8/26 because my HCG was still rising with no fetal growth/heartbeat on the ultrasound. Waiting to find out pathology results and hoping for falling HCG levels after D&C. Those results will determine if we have to wait 1 cycle or 6 months to try again.
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related?
Hoping to take a short family getaway to relax and regroup.
3) Any vents/confessions?
I hate the term "spontaneous abortion" and seeing it in my chart.
I'm annoyed that the OB office hasn't called with my blood test results from last Thursday. With the midwives, I got a call the same day.
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies?
For those that miscarried (I'm sorry), how long did it take to get your normal period back? (particulary after a D&C).
Sorry for being such a downer, it has been a rough month.
I had 3 D&C's and each time my cycles were completely normal and my period started 25-28 days after my surgery.
Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
I have been fighting this, but please put me on the check-in.
babyaustin725 (TTC #2 - not preventing since Aug. 2007, actively trying since Jan. 2010)
I will try to 6 cycles after the appropriate dose is found. After that, we will discuss testing and/or additional treatments.
Diagnosis - None. No testing performed to date.
Current status - New dr. gave me clomid to start on my next cycle. Said that "as women age, their ovaries become less efficient."
Questions:
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step? I am in the middle of my cycle and will start 50mg of Clomid this upcoming cycle. It's my first official "fertility" anything, so it's sad, but makes me hopeful at the same time.
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related? Tman is going to get a belt promotion in karate. I'm super proud of him. Other than that, just getting back into the groove of him being in school.
3) Any vents/confessions? 1. When I told my h that the doc wrote me a script for Clomid, I was expecting some resistance (as he has thus far had the "we will have as many children as God allows" stance). He said, "Cool, let's give it a go"! I was super relieved. 2. When I think about having another child, and how much I desire that, I feel like I'm betraying Tman. He always talks about wanting a baby brother/sister, but I'm afraid if it were to ever really happen, he would feel left out and abandoned. It breaks my heart.
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies? If you took Clomid, how did it affect you? I have heard of side effects like mood swings, hot flashes, etc.TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
I'm LOVEING all the good news this month!!
Questions:
I know we have a couple of new success stories ? spill it girls!
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step? 20 weeks pregnant with first round IVF. I can't help but feel like something is "wrong" but we get the anatomy scan tomorrow so we'll see for sure.
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related? Summer is here, I plan to enjoy it as much as possible
3) Any vents/confessions?
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies? Even after you are PG, when do you stop feeling "infertil"?
tresab, I'm so sorry for your loss, again. I've been thinking about you. Please keep us posted when you get the pathology reports. ((Hugs))

theresab - I'm so sorry for your loss.
tst1998 - I'm thinking good doubling thoughts for you. I like your comment "this is the most pregnant I've ever been."
babyaustin725 - Be careful with Clomid, it can have some dangerous side-effects if not monitored closely. I believe the TTTC board has a blog or something that discusses the dangers of Clomid; tst1998 might be able to point you to that link. I'm so glad your DH is on board - I know you've been frustrated with your situation.
watchpot - good luck with your ultrasound. Are you finding out the gender?
tst1998 - I'm thinking good doubling thoughts for you.
babyaustin725 - I'm glad you guys are both on board to move forward. Are you being monitored while on Clomid? If I remember right they want to watch for thinning lining as well as hyperovulation. I don't remember many side effects but I only did 2 cycles before moving on to femera.

theresab, I'm so sorry for your loss.
WatchPot, I'm sure everything is perfect with your baby!
We had an unexpected but very welcome surprise ourselves. I don't know what was different this time that wasn't working the past two years, but we're excited!
Woohoo for some good news TST and Purvy!
Baby Austin - I was on clomid for a couple cycles. I didn't experience any of the mood swings, but I was sort of headachey while taking it. Clomid caused ovarian cysts both cycles I took it, which I'm told is highly unusual. So in the end, we switched to femara which worked.

My Blog
I didn't have any side effects until the 3rd cycle of Clomid. It was mainly mood swings and trouble sleeping, and I hated it. We switched to injectables after that, which were more expensive, but so much more pleasant. I never tried Femara, but it supposedly has fewer side effects.

Yeah for being normal!
Pathology came back that it was a normal miscarriage (not a partial molar pregnancy), so we only have to wait 1 cycle. HCG has gone from 17000 (8/25) to 558 (9/1) to 50 (yesterday). I have to still get blood draws until HCG goes down to 0. No results from the genetic testing yet, but the biggest concern was a molar pregnancy so I'm relieved to hear good news on that front.
Thank you everyone for your kind words and concern.
I haven't been posting on this thread for a while b/c I don't feel like I have much to add. We're not TTC or going through IF treatments, at the moment. But I did want to try to answer questions, if I can.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Theresa! I miscarried naturally and it was one cycle to get back to normal. It was a long cycle, though. I usually have 28/29 day cycles and this was more like 60 days. Good luck to you and hugs!
Sorry about your struggle, E! I was affected by Clomid. It wasn't enough to make me want to stop taking it, and I'd do it again, if necessary. But I did have mood swings and VERY strong cravings for chocolate. I know I heard worse on the IF board, so I didn't have it that hard. As long as we kept up my supply of available chocolate. It sounds funny or weird, but I would sometimes get upset about something and it would escalate so fast. For some reason, chocolate helped a ton. A little advice... just don't go to the Puyallup Fair while on Clomid. I did this and should not have. Good thing they have plenty of snack foods! ;-) After an hour doing the slow shuffle in the vendor halls, my poor DH went on a frantic search for Snickers so that I wouldn't rip someone's arm off and beat them with it! haha Other than that... :-) Really, it's such a short time you're actually taking it, so I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Good luck to you! I hope it does the trick. And I agree about making sure you are monitored with ultrasounds while you are on it. It's really important not to be overstimulated. Your dosage is pretty low (I was on 200), but still good to be monitored.
