Two Under 2

Any one with 3u3?

I have a 2 year old and 1 year old and expecting #3 in April. I use my double stroller religiously, but am trying to decide on if we should purchase a double sit n stand so all three kids could sit at once if need be.

I'm not sure a 2 1/2 year old would be ready for no stroller.

And has anyone used the Joovy Big Caboose?

Re: Any one with 3u3?

  • DS1 just turned three when we had #3, and he was able to walk holding onto the double stroller with me.  I got him a "mommy hook" and used it as a handle.  I'm not sure if he would have done the same at 2 1/2 though.  I did practice with him ahead of time to make sure he wouldn't run off randomly and when we would go somewhere that required a lot of walking I just wore the little one. GL and congrats!

  • Congrats on #3!! I would stick with your double stroller and invest in a good baby carrier if you don't already have one. I have an Ergo and I take it everywhere I go usually, although I stick with my sling when the new baby is tiny. But the Ergo can be whipped out for anyone that needs a ride, and you can switch kids around in the stroller if need be and carry the fussiest one in the Ergo. It holds up to 40 pounds and you can wear on the front or on your back. The larger Joovy is just too big and cumbersome according to anyone I know who's used it. I also second the mommy hook idea. My double stroller (Kolcraft Contours) has hooks on either side that I utilize all of the time! Good luck :)

  • I will have 3u3 (my first turns 3 right around when I'm due).  I agree with the PP, get a good baby carrier... my son already prefers to walk rather than ride in the stroller.  He was pretty good at staying in there but at this point it will be easier to put the tow littlest ones int eh double and have him walk next to me.  I'm looking into a buggy board for him to stand on... that might be another option for you.

  • We'll have 3 under 3 in February. My 2 year old likes to walk most of the time, but there are those times where the stroller is a must. We'll probably get the glider board for our baby jogger city select.

  • Holy crap ladies! I'm totally impressed. Especially Mommabear, with 5 under 6! I'm FREAKING out about having 2 under 2 (mine will be 13.5 months apart) and I'm wondering how you keep calm!? Do you get lots of help from relatives or do you handle it alone? Are you stay-at-home mommas or do you work? Any tips on getting through the first few months with an infant and a barely toddler?

  • I will have 3u3 in Dec. I also use a double stroller but DD1 is getting to the point where walking is fine. I plan an slinging DD3 until she's old enough for the stroller then make DD1 walk.
  • Thanks ladies! My DD2 was exclusively ERGOed until they was 6 or 7 months old. Whenever it was she could sit up on her own to look around. I am sure the 3rd will be too.

I need to look into this buggy board you are talking about!

    Thanks again.

I used to work part time, and take care of the kids myself (I could bring them to work) but after #3 I changed jobs and went to work full time and now we have an au pair to watch the kids while I'm at work.  DH is a big help around the house, and keeping a schedule is the key to my sanity.  Not everything goes to plan, but trying to stick to a schedule gives me something to strive for.  It's actually getting harder now, since I work FT I am limited to getting house stuff done "after hours" (and I want to spend all of that time with the kids),  I have two in soccer and one in gymnastics so trying to be 4 places in once proves to be quite a challenge!
