Bitty Baby and ballet outifts for almost 3 year old niece

So my niece will be 3 years old at the beginning of December, and I am planning out her gifts.  I keep getting American Girl catalogs, even though I have a boy.  And I noticed that there is Bitty Baby.  Does anyone have an opinion on Bitty Baby or is there a another doll that worked better for your little girl?  I am trying to find a doll that looks almost like my niece.  Has anyone ordered the matching clothes from American Girl?  My niece is taking ballet class, so I thought the ballet outfit with matching outfit for her doll would be cute.

There is also a ballet dress that I could order from Old Navy. Has anyone ordered ballet outfits from Old Navy?

Baby measured 9 weeks, still a heartbeat 12/23/09. Good NT Scan on 1/8/10, heartbeat 164. EDD 7/28/10. TEAM BLUE! Aidan Thomas born on May 26, 2010. Baby #2, BFP 11/27/11, EDD 6/5/12. TEAM PINK! Noelle Elizabeth born 4/30/12. Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God.

    I don't know about the american girl bitty baby dolls, but my nieces (and now my daughter) have Corolle Dolls.  I got the 12" inch "Calin" size.  They are very nice  There are a number of options for eye/hair color if you look at the descriptions of each one.  They are available on amazon and I've seen them locally at Kid's Club at Crossroads or UVillage.

    I have seen the Corolle dolls at Kid's Club and Once Upon a Time in Queen Anne.  There is a Corolle doll that I think is really cute --it is the Lou Corolle doll.  It is retailing for $59.99 on Amazon, and it is recommended for ages 3-7 years.  The Bitty Baby is $48.

    Wow, I don't even plan K's gifts that well!

    No advice on the doll, the ballet outfits are cute.

    Ella loves her Bitty Baby. We just got her, so we haven't tried any of the matching outfits yet.
