I take one colace daily with my PNV, put fiber sure in my morning (real) coffee, drink 4L of water daily, and eat as much fruit and veggies as I can stomach.
My doc said I can continue to take FiberCon (the Target brand) every day and supplement with my once a week "Smooth Move Tea." It's very reliable and won't cramp you up. Can be hard to find - it's at my Kroger in the 'hippie'/natural section. I get the chocolate flavor.
I've tried PlumSmart light juice that's supposed to help - but I haven't had much success with it. It tastes great though, and has more vit C than OJ - that may be worth a try.
Alex has arrived! 9 pounds, 21 inches - 3 weeks early on March 2nd
~went natural - very intense. whew!~
You can take colace if your problem is hard stools causing bloackages. It also means your not drinking enough water. But if your problem is just your muscles have relaxed due to pregesterone and you just aren't going or even feeling like you have to go then try metamucil or milk of magnesia. For me, prune juice and hot half-caf coffee helps a lot. Metamucil makes me gassy and milk of magnesia does too, although works occasionally if I drink hot coffee the morning after I take it. Just make sure your treating the right problem. Colace will not help if your dealing with sluggish bowels, only if your stools are too hard to pass. Sorry if TMI... LOL.. who knew it was so complicated?!?
Re: stool softeners
You can take colace. Also fruit juices, prune juice, and Metamucil are good as well.
