1st Trimester

Showing and running?

Is anyone showing and continuing to run?  I am getting some serious side eyes now that I look pregnant (it's my second pregnancy and showing WAY earlier this time around).  And if you're on LO#2+, how long did you continue to run with previous pregnancies?

  • I can't run anymore because of an injury, but if I could, I'd still be running.  One of my closest friends is 8 months and runs 5 miles/day.

  • Check with your doctor if you're concerned, but you should be able to run as long as you are comfortable.

  • My doctor's office suggests jogging on a treadmill as opposed to running on a track or path.

  • I ran until 30 weeks and only stopped because I had some painful ab separation and it was exacerbating it. I still walked 2 miles a day after that, though. I used to get a lot of people yelling things, but they were mostly encouraging :P

  • I'm not much of a runner.. bad knee.. but I was religious about the elliptical before and  throughout my last pregnancy.  I was on it the day I checked into the hospital to deliver. As long as you aren't pushing yourself into a new aggressive workout routine that your body isn't already used to - I'm pretty sure you are good to go. But of course - your doc knows best!

That's awesome!  I hope I feel good enough to work out up until I deliver.

  • I am only 11 weeks and figure I should feel about the same as myt normal self until 20 weeks I have no belly at all, and if my belly starts to make it difficult or weird to run I wil get a belly support and try to walk/jog.  If I get to uncomfortable or have any serious paint associated I will just walk 3-4 miles 4 or so days a week.  My husband is really nice about going on walks with me on days I am too lazy to run.

  • I plan on running as far into my pregnancy as possible.  I'm just making sure that I'm not pushing myself too much (ie: could have a semi-conversation if I wanted to).
And, yes, I'm sure I look rediculous in my much too small sports bra and bloated belly!
