CD3 B/W Today...When should I do ultrasound?

I thought I'd ask any of you experienced gals...I'm TTC #2 naturally and haven't met with an RE.  I did, however, talk to my OB/GYN about my troubles. She ordered CD3 & 21 labs as well as an ultrasound.  Her Rx says to get the ultrasound anywhere from CD 3 to 17 or something like that....seems to be a broad range.  Have any of you heard when the best time to get one done?  Just after AF? Before you O? After O?  Thanks.

Sept'11 FSH=15.7, referred to RE by my OB/GYN
Oct '11 started with RE (IVF-NJ, Dr. Darder)
3 Clomid/IUI Cycles = BFN
2 Max Dose Injectible IUIs = BFN
May '12 Donor Egg Speech
June '12 2nd Opinion RE (Cooper Center, Dr. Check)
High Hopes for BFP soon!!

    Usually a baseline ultrasound to look at the number of resting follicles (antral follicle count) is done on CD3.

    Also, if you don't O on CD14, you should not be getting CD21 b/w.  Checking for progesterone should be 7 days after you ovulate. They call it "CD21" b/w using the generalization that all women ovulate on CD14 and we don't.

    DOR (FSH 24.3)/ terrible egg quality ; homozygous MTHFR c677t
    5 IUI's: 2/11 to 6/11 and 1/12= BFN
    OE IVF#1-4 8/11-6/12= all BFN
    DE IVF#1 11/12 bad embryos= BFN
    DE IVF #2 2/13 BFP/Beta hell: m/c 5w6d
    CFNBC 7 months, not doing well; decided on guarantee program at RBA w/frozen DE
    DE IVF #3 1/14  ET 4BB; BFP;M/C 5w1d, incomplete m/c; MVA extraction in ER 7w1d

    DE FET#1 ET 3/1714; BFP, beta 1 3/27= 197, beta 2 3/31= 1586, beta 3 4/7= 13879!!
    First u/s= Twins with HBs at 6w2d! We are Team Pink x 2!!

    Thanks.  The C 21 thing makes total sense and I'll be sure to go 7 DPO.  However, I thought the ultrasound was just to check out the goods and make sure everything is looking normal.  My OB/GYN didn't mention anything about the follicles.  Hmmm.  I know every doc is different.  Maybe I'll just try to get it done tomorrow or Friday.
