When I was younger I heard Ralph Lauren's last name pronounced all Faux Frenchy "La'Ren" or however you would do that phonetically. And it stuck. To this day in my mind - and sometimes when I slip - I pronounce it in Faux French. And I die inside a bit every time I do it. Cause he's just plain old Lauren - like the girl's first name.
Anyone else?
Re: S/O Lauren Bush-Lauren - Pronunciation
David, her DH, Ralph's son, lived in my dorm in college. He just pronounced it LORen, so that's how I've pronounced it since then.
ETA: sorry, I didn't read your whole post, I must have missed the last sentence, you knew that, what I said. Sorry. But I know I would have that problem if I didn't picture his face any time I tried to pronounce the name.
I also pronounce it similarly but I am from Russia and mispronounce everything as I have a Russian accent.
This is from Wikipedia (see below). Wonder how they pronounce it in The Bronx. Or in Belarus
"Ralph Lauren was born Ralph Lifshitz in The Bronx, New York, to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants, from Pinsk, Belarus:[1] Fraydl (Kotlar) and Frank Lifshitz, a house painter.[2"
He had his son living in a dorm??? I will tell this to my oldest - she refused to live in a dorm and now she is living in a rental house.
