Snarky and T-TTC

so DH bought me sour cream last week

from Costco (yeah, we go through those giant tubs a little too frequently in our house).    Expiration date:  09/16

I opened it Monday.   Pulled off the lid, peeled back the protective plastic-y film, and the top of the sour cream inside was covered in green/black mold.

Gross.

I told him to take it back to them today.

We've never had that happen.

  • That is so gross. I hope they don't give him any problems with an exchange. That happened once with us and coffee creamer from Shop-Rite.

  • my old neighbor/BFF (pre-DH) used to return food stuff to costco all the time and never had an issue.   Granted this is a different location, but hopefully they have a policy of wanting to make people happy.   I'll keep you all posted how it went for him (I just know everyone will be waiting anxiously for this info)

    :)

  • I would hope they would want to keep the customer happy and not want a rep for putting sh!tty food on their shelves.

  • Yuck! Costco is really good at taking anything back. They even took back a partly used can of formula, when I had to switch to something different. It just sucks you have to waste your time doing it.  On a side note we go through a ton of sour cream here too.

  • they gave him a refund and didn't even look at the sour cream!

It wasn't too much of an issue since he had to go today for milk anyway.   He called me from there:  Anything you need from costco?   I told him: Yeah, Sour Cream.

  • I've bought a box of yogurt (contained 8 little containers) and didn't pay attention to the date until I got home.  It had expired 3 weeks prior.  Another reason I hate Walmart.  You have to check every little thing there.
