Large chested mommies/ plus size mommies

Where are you finding nursing bras or tops?  I am a 42F as of right now.  I see motherhood has bras but they look cheap and the online reviews confirm they are cheap.  I need an underwire for support and according to one review the wires came out after one day of wear.  My girls are heavy.....I'm 100% breast tissue lady.  I usually wear lane bryant smooth balconet (my favorite)!  I would like something with a wire...and a little padding already in the bra to help support.

Re: Large chested mommies/ plus size mommies

  • Sorry, I know I don't post here often, but I do lurke.

I just bought 2 nursing tanks from Lane Bryant.  They also have nursing bras, but I'm waiting about a week or two PP before I buy a nursing bra.  My friends have told me my bra size will still change the first few weeks after giving birth while my milk comes in. Good luck!

  • I have no suggestions just a question- has the underwire in your current bras been bothering you? I feel like as my stomach sticks out more and my boobs get heavier the underwire is pressing down and digging more and more into my skin. It hurts and it sucks because they're only going to get bigger! I'm a 36G. Just wondering if this was happening to you too, or am I the only one?

All of my bras are still comfortable.  The only issue I had was before our air was fixed I was getting a heat rash under my boobs.

I've become a 36D and have noticed underwire bras are ridiculously uncomfortable (although prior to pregnancy I preferred them).   You are not the only one!

  • I'm 32E usually and I always get mine from onehanesplace.com (I know which styles I like so I just always buy those). They also have outlets stores. I like the Bali brand best. I haven't looked into the nursing bras yet though.

  • The lady at Motherhood said that they don't carry anything over a 40 so I have to special order mine at a local lactation center (currently a 44DD, but with the last baby I was a 40F when my milk came in). That said, I saw nursing bras and tanks for a decent price all the way up to a 44DD at Walmart of all places. I was shocked and then I bought a tank! The first few weeks, the tanks are great, easy to wear, don't have to be size specific to allow for engorgement and throw on a pair of pajama pants and your good to go for the day!
  • I actually just bought a nursing bra yesterday!

I went to motherhood and got measured and they were definitely less than helpful. I was a 42 DDD before pregnancy. During pregnancy I started wearing lane bryant bras exclusively and have been wearing a 42 or a 44 DDD.

Goddess carries nursing bras that are phenomenal. I just bought one yesterday and spent most of yesterday and today wearing it. Definitely room to grow. It's not an underwire but Goddess bras are extremely supportive.

that's the one I bought yesterday. Ended up being a 42 G. Only problem I have with it is that it is a little high cut for a bra. But I'll manage if I can find something to contain my ladies!

  • I'm a 36I and there are websites dedicated to large chested girls.  Try Bravissimo, Fig Leaves, Bare Necessities, and even Amazon.  My favorite nursing bra was a Medela but it only goes up to an H cup.  It was underwire and pretty supportive.

  • Thank you for posting this and THANK YOU to the person that suggested Lane Bryant!  I have been searching online and I didn't even consider LB because they don't have a maternity line anymore.  I bought a nursing bra at Motherhood Maternity when I had my second DD 4.5 years ago and it was AWFUL because my boobs were so heavy (44DDD), esp. when my milk came in.  I'm trying one of both bras on the LB site... THANKS!

  • If you don't see the nursing bras on LB's website go to the search area and type in nursing and they come up.

Thanks to all who posted....I'm following up on some leads right now.  I just have no idea how big my girls are going to get.  Thank goodness I don't have to go anywhere until Thanksgiving so I will have a few weeks to figure something out....or just wear layers.
