DH and I have started TTC #2 and I am in the market for a new ob. I did not have a stellar experience with the ob office that delivered DS and I will not be going back. I would be looking to deliver at Reston Hospital & would like for the office to be near or located in the hospital complex.
I think I have heard some of you ladies on here talk positively about Perfectly Female and Physicians for Obgyn Care. For those that went to either of those...
What Dr?s were your faves?
On average how long were you in the waiting room before your appointments?
How easy was it to get the appointment times you wanted?
When did they let you schedule your first appointment after the initial confirmation bloodwork visit?
Did they do ultrasounds in house?
If they had the equipment did they do an ultrasound at your first appointment?
I don?t know why I am so nervous about picking a new place, I guess because I thought I was picking somewhere I trusted the first time and then things kinda went south at the end when it was too late to do anything about it?
Thank you so much for your help!
Re: Reston OB Recs
My SIL delivered both of her babies with Physicians for ObGYN Care. Both were C-sections, one done by Dr. Rausch, one by Dr. Patel. The first was a scheduled C-section (breech), the second was unplanned (pre-E).
I think she was happy with her experience overall. She knew Dr. Rausch before she got pregnant, which is how she wound up there... I have also met Dr. R on a few occasions (never in the office) and she's very nice.
I don't know all of the details on how the office works... sorry!
I delivered with Perfectly Female. Dr. Ambrose did my c-section and overall I liked her the best. I was not a fan of Dr. McDonald but felt comfortable enough with all the others.
They do the initial dating ultrasound in their office on an old machine, but send you to Maternal Fetal Associates for the more detailed scans.
I never had to wait a long time for my appointments (always scheduled in the morning) and was generally pleased with the office. Some of the nurses/medical assistants can be hit or miss.
I delivered my DS in Pgh so I had to search for a new OB when I became pg. I also wanted to be close to Reston Hospital so I looked around and chose Physicians for OBGYN Care.
I have only met Dr. Rausch and Dr. Cauble so far. I liked Dr. R alot and Dr. C not quite as much.
I've had an easy time making appointments and I have not had to wait long, maybe 5 minutes. The longest that I waited was about 20 minutes for an ultrasound. (It's technically a seperate "company") They do those in the office and from what I've seen there is only 1 machine and 1 technician. They didn't do it at the first appt. I had scheduled it seperately after the bloodwork/consult type visit with the NP.
My first appointment with the Dr. was at 8 wks and I was told that the Dr. sees the patient between 8 - 10 weeks.
I was told by the NP in my first visit that they were "medically agressive" and that still sort of haunts me a bit. I obv don't want to be pushed into a csection or other interventions that are medically agressive. I'm just telling myself that I can be agressive too and will stand up for what I want if that situation arises. All in all it has been a good experience.
