My doctor had a feeling that I would, given that my one hour test was a very high 182 (my doctor asked me if I poured chocolate on my Cheerios before the test). My first and last values were fine, but the two middle ones were a few points over the cut off. I am a little bummed in that I hate the thought of anything going wrong with my pregnancy, but I am (of course) willing to do what I need to in order to keep baby safe and healthy. I am a little apprehensive about the diet, mostly because even though I eat sensibly I have never really had to watch what I eat. Waiting for a call back from the doctor's office now so that I find out what my next steps should be as far as diet, glucose monitoring, etc.

Re: Flunked the 3 hour glucose test.
Did you have pasta or some other high carb type food before the test? (I've heard that can cause issues)
Hope the diet change isn't anything crazy drastic since you were only a couple points off from the cut off.

Ugh, I have mine tomorrow and I am a little concerned I am going to fail too. My Dr. put me on low carb, high protein 4 weeks ago, so I am guessing my diet wouldn't change that much if I do. I just really miss carbs....
I will say that peanut butter, and making greek yogurt smoothies have been a lifesaver.
I'm sorry. I failed the 3 hour too.
I meet with my dietician and educator on Friday to go over my "plan".
So far I have to: Have a fasting number of 95 or under in the morning (before breakfast) and 120 or under after meals (I'll test 2 hours after each meal). I'll know more after Friday but we are hoping to avoid meds. My first two draws were normal, but my last two were elevated (not sure to what number).
Not really. I actually started watching what I eat carb-wise after failing the 1 hour test by so much. I was only 6 or 7 points over on the two values that are high, so I'm waiting to find out if I can just change my diet some with glucose monitoring, or if I'll have to do medication.
I'm nervous because I'm going to be out of town for 10 days, part of which will be spent in New York City, and part in Panama, and I'm just not sure how to follow a diabetic diet while travelling (especially outside of the US). Any suggestions?
Sorry to hear that! I go for my 3 hour tomorrow. Question OP, did you have any symptoms? The Wikipedia article (I know, so reliable!) on GD says that some women experience increased thirst, nausea, fatigue, blurred vision, increased urination (which I think we all have!) and bladder/yeast infections.
I've experienced most of these symptoms so just based on that I have a feeling I have GD, so wondering if you had any signs that you had GD?
Thanks!!

I'm not the OP but FWIW I didn't experience any of those symptoms. Not one.
Nope, I didn't notice any of those symptoms, aside from the fatigue and increased urination that seems to go hand in hand with pregnancy. I have noticed that I feel pretty crappy (cranky and light headed) if too much time passes between meals and snacks. I have some risk factors, but am low risk in other ways. I'm not overweight (if anything I've always been a little under) and try to eat sensibly other than a weakness for desserts, which I will now have to curtail. On the other side, I am over 30 years old, my dad is a type 2 diabetic, and my mom had GD when she was pregnant with my younger sister. So, I guess you could say that I'm not really shocked by this.
