Hi everyone,
I got my mirena IUD out a week ago. My periods completely disappeared within a few months of getting it inserted.
Did anyone else take out their IUD to start TTC? If so, how long after you got it out did you have your first period?
DH has put a time limit on TTC (one year). For better of for worse, our last TTC cycle will be next September. I haven't gotten my period yet, and I'm wondering how long it will take. We are waiting until then to start TTC at our doctor's recommendation.
Re: 1st period after Mirena out?
I had Mirena in for about a year (and yes, my periods went to spotting within two months.. and then nothing at all for the next ten!)
I had it removed for TTC purposes this spring, in March. I started getting my period about a month later. First cycle was 28 days long. Second cycle, 30. Third cycle, 32. Fourth cycle, 40! (I have to admit, was on birth control like the pill or Nuvaring for easily 20 years, so I have no idea what my "normal" cycle is.)
But in the last two months, I was using the ovulation test kit from the drug store-- the pee-on-a-stick kind. So I hope that will help us conceive. Seems like we are both so busy, we occasionally go 4-5 days without sex, and I wanted to make sure we weren't accidentally missing our chance each month. I know for sure (at least according to the ovulation test) that I had a surge of luteinizing hormone last month and this month. I just turned 39 so we're not going to give this very long before seeing a doctor (though my husband is firm on "no extreme measures to have a baby.)
We'll see... good luck to you!
Thank you so much for responding. I am so impatient. The clock is literally ticking, and I feel like I will never get my period! I appreciate learning what your experience was, and makes me feel better to know that it took a little while (a lot of stuff I've read online shows some people getting their period within days of getting it out!).
Good luck to you both! I know what it feels like to be over 35 and waiting with each cycle to embark on my journey as a parent.
