So I know it's early, but I decided after I had DS, that I wanted to change doctors for my next pregnancy. I decided to go with a midwife and she delivers at a hospital that fits my needs PERFECTLY. The only problem? It's 45 mins away. The other hospital is 25-30 mins. I don't know what I'm going to do. How far away is the hospital you will deliver at?
Re: How far away is the hospital?
My hospital is 10 minutes away.
If you're deciding between a 30 minute drive and a 45 minute drive, that's not much of a difference. I'd say go for it if you are more comfortable there!
This was actually something that I found really important and was in my list of factors in finding a doctor.
The hospital I will go to is .4 miles away, about a 2 minute drive once you hop in the car.
I got pretty lucky though. There are 3 very reputable hospitals and many clinics within 3 miles.

30-45 minutes depending on traffic. It's on my way to work, so it's not really a long drive for me.
15 minutes away.
Luckily in case of an emergency situation or if something should arise and I can't get there, there are 4 other hospitals in my surrounding area.

My hospital is only about 15 minutes away. Maybe less depending on traffic. This hospital is one of the best in the area so I'm pretty excited about delivering there.
There is a hospital that is much closer, 5-10 mins, but I prefer to be at the bigger hospital that has a state of the art NICU available if needed.?

Mine is less than 10 minutes but I am in the city.
I would say go with the 45 minute away one though. It is only a difference of 15 minutes in the car, and when you think about it, you'll be spending much longer in the hospital. So it's probably better to chose the best one

We're choosing between 2 as well. One is 20 minutes, but the nicer one is about 30-35. The further one is a bit nicer and has a more specialized labor and delivery department. As my dr put it "babies are what they do". I think we'll probably go with the farther one for that reason.
The hospital is 45 minutes away. Which isn't what I wanted, and I'm not in love with the idea of being in that hospital again (I had DD there too). But none of the dr's closer would allow children at the appointments, and I don't have any choice but to bring her. So it wasn't really an option.
I'll be set up for a scheduled c-section. But I went into labor with DD early and had a c-section a week before my scheduled section. So I'd like to say that having a scheduled c will mean it doesn't matter about the drive...it still totally sucks because the scheduled means nothing.
Pregnancy Week by Week stuff.
mine is 1 hour. it didn't really matter with my first...just felt like a LONG drive with contractions! But I was most worried about a snow storm which there were many in late Jan..but we got lucky...so with it being May it should be a quick drive! unless we get another late snow storm like last year!
I think it's worth the drive for a better facility and a doctor u trust!!
