XP: Angelcare monitor users....question

If you are using, or have used an Angelcare monitor, when did you stop using it, or when do you plan to stop using it? DD is 9 months, and we are wondering if it is "safe" to stop using it. The issue is that she moves around SO much now that she sets off the alarm pretty much every night. Sometimes it just beeps once or twice, but sometimes it's the full on siren alert (kind of hard to get back to sleep after that).

I did my dissertation research on SIDS, so I know the data, and I know that there are very few SIDS deaths this late in infancy.....but it would be so horrible to get so close to aging out of risk, and unplug the Angelcare, and then something terrible happens.

Just wondering what other people are thinking. Thanks!

  • We stopped using it with DD around 10 months.

  • I still use ours and DD is 18 months old.  She has figured out how to climb out of her crib.  I like that the alarm goes off so I know she is out.  When DD was 9 months we started having a bunch of false alarms.  I increased the sensitivity to 5 and haven't had any issues since.
