Pittsburgh Babies

average hourly rate part-time nanny

My baby is due in the next couple of weeks and I will be heading back to work 12 weeks after delivery.  We will only need childcare 2 days a week approximately 20 hours/ week. I was wondering if anyone knew what the average hourly rate for a part-time infant nanny would be for the pittsburgh area/suburbs?

Re: average hourly rate part-time nanny

  • I nannied for 2 boys-1 toddler, 1 preschooler, from March 09-Feb 10. I was paid $250 weekly with an average of 27-30 hours/week. I'm not sure if that helps that much. Have you checked out sittercity.com? That's where I found my nanny job. There are lots of sitters/nannies with their rates posted on their profiles and I think there's a tool you can use to find out what the average rate is in your area.

  • Check out www.sittercity.com I just saw this on tv the other day and looke it up. They have background checks, reviews posted, pricing, and much more. Its a pretty cool site and should help you budget for your needs. Good Luck!
  • It really can range a good bit depending on whether the person is actual nanny or au pair. Probably looking at least $10-$15/hr - I have used SitterCity.com as well as Care.com in the past
  • I used sittercity to find babysitters for our LO-to-be, and the calculator on there told me I should pay around $11/ hour.

    Our requirements:

Bachelor school+, licensed, CPR/First Aid certified, non-smoking, bilingual, own transportation person who would do light house duties.

    Good luck!

  • when my son was an infant, we paid the nanny we had $10/hour.  she has since quit and nanny we have now is $12/hour.  he is 2 now.  we are expecting a baby girl at the end of the month and then we'll likely pay her $14/hour.  hope that helps.  we found her on care.com and she is great.  she takes my son to his tumbling class, library storytime, park, etc. and feeds him all 3 meals+snacks.  she is also part-time, 3 days/week about 30-35 hrs/week.  hope that helps!
