During my first pregnancy, I was with a different doc/office, and they didn't do beta testing. For this pregnancy, however, I am with a new doc/office, and it's apparently their policy. So, at 3 weeks 5 days I had my first beta test. It was 42. At 4 weeks 6 days I had my second beta, and it was 2050. Now the nurse said that was fine; it's raising like it should, however, a friend of mine is also pregnant. She had betas drawn at 4 weeks. It was 41, and a week later, when she was retested, her was 4000.
Since I'm new to the beta thing, I don't know if I should be freaked about this or not. The nurse said it's fine, and she didn't anticipate the doc wanting another one done. But I'm still worried about it.
Re: Calm me about my betas
If your nurse said they are fine, she has probably seen a huge range of betas and knows. Even if your doctor wants another it isn't necessarily bad, he might just be following them up.
As far as comparing to a friend's pregnancy, every single pregnancy is different. That is why there is such a huge range for "good" betas.

My Blog
I dealt with beta levels with my past two pregnancies. I was told to never compare the numbers with other women because they are never the same that is why there is a chart with a big spread on it. It sounds like your numbers are rising appropriately and that?s what matters.
Have a happy and health 9 months!
