I found a drug interaction today. A big one. The woman had been on both meds before, just never at the same time. It was something that could kill her or at least cause major damage. I had to leave a message with the doc, so I couldn't do anything yet. I start to explain to her why her script isn't ready yet and she starts YELLING at me demanding me to fill it. Um, no. I'm sorry. Did you not hear what I just said?? You could die. She starts ranting about what a terrible pharmacist I am and all this crap. I was blown away.
And no, I wouldn't give her the script back either so she could take it somewhere else and not tell them about the other med and then get the reaction.

Re: You know, I hate it when you try to save someone's life, and they give you shit for it.
Good for you for doing the right thing even though the lady was a complete b!tch about it.
Both my grandpa's GP and his pharmacist recently missed a potentially fatal drug interaction and it wasn't until he went to the internist that they realized what was going on. I wish you'd been his pharmacist!

Reason number 1 why docs need good electronic health record systems. The doc should have caught it before it even got to you.
BUT, since that's far from reality, keep up the awesome work. People are a-holes.
people are a-holes - esp at the pharmacy! you did the right thing!
Some people are so damn thickheaded!!
Sorry you have to deal with that crap -- but good for you for taking the high road!
I'm glad you caught the mistake!
