I don't know how my little guy know this but he is purposely eating more when I pump. I just want to get enough of a supply up to have a girls day & night but the darn pumpkin keeps eating my supply up. The last time I pumped he woke up immediately after and wanted to eat. Of course he didn't like what he got from me so I had to break out the stuff I just pumped then today he did it again! What the heck! How am I every going to get enough to go out. I think I need about 50 oz and I currently have less then 20. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just pumped again but I am sure the little stinker will wake up any minute extra hungry and eat it all when he should sleep for another 1-11/2.
Re: argh! pumping help
Some kids do that because its so much less work to drink from a bottle. They can literally just pour it down. Some say it actually fools their appetite instinct and they overeat (more of an issue with high calorie formula but even for EBM).
Maybe cut back on the bottles if you can, until he forgets how easy it is??
Ah, I remember those days! Try pumping after you feed him, especially in the morning when you tend to have the largest supply.
Good luck!
nope paci didn't work he is attasched to the boob again. the 6 week growth spurt must be starting
Neither of my girls would take a paci. I have always been jealous of tiny quiet babies with pacis while mine screamed
In the a.m., she is satisfied nursing from one side, and I pump and freeze the other side. Another good time to pump is right after they go to sleep at night. I know for my DD at least, if she wakes she will want to nurse for comfort rather than a full feeding.
