95% of the time, yes, I think it's tacky. There are some sweatpants that aren't too bad, but I still don't do it because I think it's... well, trashy My DH does it all the time and I always give him crap for it.
i voted not tacky, but i have to add that they CANNOT, under any circumstances, be tapered at the ankle (especially with elastic!). those are just wrong. i don't have a problem wearing them to the grocery store or to run errands though. i actually think matching sweatpants and a hoodie can look very cute.

This is my exact train of thought. I like the ones that could pass as warmer yoga pants but my mom was giving me crap for wearing a matching set the other day around the house and said, "I hope you aren't planning on wearing that out of the house?"
Uhm, screw you mom. Some days, I don't want to wear my maternity pants and want something seriously comfy that makes me feel normal.

with the elastic around the ankles? yes tacky unless you area actually exercising out in public, but then there are the sweats that are more like yoga pants and those I wouldn't even look twice at--totally fine.
i voted tacky but I have run downtown in our small little town to get the mail in my sweats just because I didn't want to put on regular pants when I was that comfy. They aren't a tapered ankle though! I think the only time they aren't tacky is when you are wearing them to go to the gym or some sort of workout location (like a pool).

This is my vote too, I wouldn't wear like an old ratty pair out in public. Matching sets for running errands is just fine, wouldn't wear them to a party though!
I've come to realize that I really don't care what anyone thinks about me if I'm grocery shopping or running errands around town. I rock my sweatpants and my hair might look a mess. I'm not going to go to dinner or the mall in sweats...but I don't judge others. I say this now, until I find myself on the next round of "People of Walmart" lol

If I do wear sweatpants outside of the house, it's with my UGGS and I'm headed to the store. I love my victoria secret sweatpants, they are soft and comfy.
I think there is a time and place for sweats, I mean if you're running to the grocery store or Walmart who cares! But I've seen people wear sweats at graduations and church! There are just some events that call for dressing up and nobody should be that lazy.

99.99% of the time I think yes, they are. There are some I've seen that aren't that bad and don't bother me. As a general rule, though, I don't understand why someone can't take 2 minutes to throw on a pair of jeans.

This. I see plenty of women going out on errands in their little Juicy sweatsuits, even non-preggers. Also as long as your face is clean (extra credit for sporty makeup) and your hair is combed. The ultimate in tacky is the unwashed, unkept, elastic ankled types.

All of this. I wouldn't think twice about wearing a cute set out to run errands and don't give a second glance to anyone else that does.
