Dh and I are both off on Thursday and want to have a fun family day outside since it's supposed to be gorgeous. I was thinking of Alki for beach/park and maybe lunch somewhere but DH wants to go to Maggie Bluffs in Magnolia for lunch (I'm open to other suggestions though) ..
So - what is your favorite park or beach to go to on a hot day in Seattle? Just looking for something fun and different since we don't usually hang out in the city much (we live South)
I know Discovery Park is in Magnolia - I haven't been there since before DS and can't remember how much fun it would be for a toddler...
Re: Favorite Park/Beach in Seattle area?
The only issue with Discovery park is that they have put up signs saying you can't drive down to the beach. The hike is pretty big so I wouldn't say the beach there is toddler friendly.
I would pick Golden Gardens... they just opened the coolest kids park ever. https://www.myballard.com/2011/08/05/new-playground-at-golden-gardens-is-now-open/
We've really enjoyed Houghton Beach in Kirkland. Great playground, lifeguards, but the bottom is rocky.
Whatever you do, do NOT go to Juanita. It was disgusting.
either Alki or Golden Gardens.
That said -- my preference is Golden Gardens. It's huge, lots of parking, there's a brand new playground, the train goes by (which kids LOVE), the sand is soft, there's a little snack shack, and you can always drive down Seaview to places like Ray's Boathouse for a bite to eat.
