I wanted to post this earlier but my DH fried our laptop charger at the hospital!
Lyra
completely surprised us on the morning of the 14th! On the 11th I
posted that my doctor scheduled a c-section for the 23 due to breech
position and my uterine abnormality, she had other plans though. About
15 minutes after I woke up on Sunday, the 14th, my water broke. There
was really no question about it because it just kept coming. I paged my
doctor and was told to go straight to the hospital. After arriving at
the hospital, they had me going in for my c-section within an hour.
Everything seemed to happen so fast. During the surgery I had no pain
but really felt the "pulling" sensation. She did not want to come out so
they had to really push on my uterus and this was uncomfortable but not
painful. At 11:28 AM, Lyra was born. She was born at 6lbs 6oz and 17.5
inches long. She is healthy and a champ at breastfeeding. I was worried
about how breastfeeding would go due to the c-section but I have not had
any issues yet! When we left the hospital, Wednesday, she had only
lost 6 oz and her ped was happy with that amount.
So far recovery has not been bad at all. I am sore in the mornings but otherwise, I have been able to move around and have very little discomfort. She is completely healthy and her doctor is extremely happy with how she is doing. I was concerned at first because she was born at 38 weeks and I know it is better for c-section babies to come after 39 weeks. While she was born small, the doctors have all said it is just a matter of me making smaller babies, not a concern about her. On Friday, she had already gained 3 ounces back! We are completely in love and she has DH wrapped around her finger!
Re: Lyra is here!
Congratulations! I successfully BF both of my c-section babies. It looks like you're off to a good start, so that is awesome!
My son was delivered at 38 weeks also but he was 8 lbs 5 oz. My daughter was delivered at 41 weeks and was only 7 lbs 7 oz - so it just all depends
