Just wondering when those of you who chart started charting. Did you start temping right away? Did you wait a while? If you don't chart do you plan on it after a certain amount of time?
TTC #1 since Aug 2011
Dx PCOS 2002...500mgs metformin
When we were trying to conceive the first time around, I started charting after about 3 months. After some 20+ months of that, and no BFP, I threw in the towel with that.
This time around I am keeping a chart for the purpose of keeping track of my cycles and when I get + OPK's, but that is about it. I think charting is wonderful, but it is not for me.
I started charting when we actively started TTC. We were technically not preventing for 5 months prior but dh still claims we weren't trying until that certain day ::eyeroll::
I was charting fertility signs for about 4 months before I started temping. And I was actually pretty spot on about when I ovulated just using signs -- but I still temp because I like having the actual confirmation. Also, sometimes my body gears up to O for about a week and it's nice to wake up the next day, take my temp, and say "finally!" (I have a consistent coverline temp so ovulation is clear the very next day.)
Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.
IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.
Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

I have thought about charting after 6months of TTC we are head into the 4th cycle. My reasoning for not charting yet is i have very off sleep patterns, I wake up many times through out the night and i tend to over analyze every little thing and i don't want to drive my DH crazy. So in other words I'm not ready to know every little detail of what my body is doing I'm worried about obsessing over it all

I'm in the middle of my first cyle and just started temping a few days ago.
I thought we would try for a few months without temping or using opks. I did check CM and CP. I didn't like not having all of the available information so I decib my ded to step it up for my next cycle.
I also hope that charting will help curb my budding POAS addiction
DH (32): SA is ok, slightly low morph, normal SCSA Me (32): Slightly low progesterone, hostile CM, carrier for CF, Moderately high NKC, High TNFa, heterozyogous mutated Factor XIII, and +APA
October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos
November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues. Converted to freeze all due to lining issues. 2 blasts frozen on day 6!
January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues
I began charting cycle#1 (this cycle). I thought about waiting awhile, but then realized I might as well start now so that I truly know when I O and watch my other signs for consistency.

Middle of 3rd cycle. I hated the not knowing after bcp and my long cycles. This is cycle 4 and first one temping entire cycle. Praying for O day anyday now hah.
Married July 2006 - TTC since July 2011 - off bcp. April 2011
I started charting about two months before we started ttc, maybe more. I wanted to know if I was ovulating and I wanted to have a better understanding of things. Sadly now I'm about to give up on charting.

We tried for a month before I started charting. I began charting so I knew when I was Oing. That way we could more accurately time sex and not stress during the 2WW. As of now I am going to continue charting. If we hit cycle 6 then I am going to take a break from charting to relax a bit.
I stopped taking the pill in May 2010 and started charting in July when someone who was having TTC suggested it "just in case." It was nice because when I finally went to my dr, he said that's what he was goign to have me do for six months before considering anything and when I showed him the charts he was able to see there was no ovulating and I immediately started on Clomid.
I started charting half way through my first cycle. I'm very thankful that I started so early, since for the past 2 months my O date has been several days later than it was the first 4 months.

Thanks ladies. I'm going to be getting my BBT in the next few days probably so that's when I'm going to start charting. One cycle of being in the dark was enough for me so I'm going to start mid cycle since I don't want to wait another cycle. No reason to really.

This, esp. since that cycle ended up being six days longer than I'd expected. I realized then that I wanted a better idea of when I was ovulating and when we had the best chances of actually getting pregnant.

I did it briefly (less than a month) when we first started TTC but I found it to be too stressful so I gave up. We just started our 5th cycle and I just started charting again at the start of it. I feel much better about it this time around, I don't feel all obsessive like I did before. It will be nice to be able to try to time BD right, but mostly I am charting to make sure I am Oing, and because I am tired of not knowing exactly when I expect AF.

I started charting on the first day of Cycle #1. I had been on birth control for 10 years, so I didn't know what to expect as far as what's normal for my cycles. I'm really glad I started charting early -- this is cycle 2 and I'm getting an idea of what to expect for future cycles.
I started charting about 3 months before we wanted to TTC. That way I'd have a better idea when it came to trying to decipher my charts. I'll se AF within the next few days and then we will officially be TTC! I'm so excited!
I started temping mid-way thought cycle 4. I was using a period calendar before that, which I thought was reliable before I came on here and learned how useless it was.

Ditto. I'd been waffling w/ charting before ttc but we didn't have a thermometer and i already tracked my cycles on paper so i figured i'd just estimate O and I just put it off.
Getting that bfn was the pushstart I needed.
Nevermind me, I'm too distracted by my mini-carrots to think properly
