Pregnant after IF

Losing my Mucous Plug :(

I started losing big pieces of my mucous plug yesterday - 28 weeks exactly.  Thankfully I already had an OB appointment scheduled for this morning so I got a cervical check and my first ever NST.  Everything looked good, my cervix is still closed and the babies looked good on the NST, but I'm still worried.

Anybody else start losing it this early and go on to have a nice long pregnancy?

Well that is good to hear.  My OB didn't say much about it other than to move my every-two-week appointment to every-week.  The NST lady was the one who mentioned it being "way to early."  Way to send me into a panic, lady Tongue Tied

  • From what I've heard, it's not a hard-and-fast indication of anything.  I think I've read that it can actually "regenerate" up to a certain point, so I'd think that might happen with you.  Hope it's not a sign of anything amiss!

ditto - I think your cervix being long and closed is a much better indication of things.

This.  I think the concern w/ the MP is if it's coming out b/c you're dialating, which you're not.

  • Aw I'm sorry because I know its disconcerting. I began losing mine at 29 weeks but as you know, my story has a happy ending! They can regenerate, too!

  • Glad everything is looking ok on the NST and cervical check.  In my childbirth class the instructor said you could lose your mucous plug and it will regenerate and you could lose it again etc.  She said that unless it comes with other signs of labor it's not too concerning.  NOT to say I wouldn't continue to get checked because I know I'd be worried like you, but try not to worry as much since everything is looking good.

  • That would probably scare me too but it's reassuring your cervix is nice and closed. It seems they will keep a close eye on things!
