Pregnant after IF

Progesterone Pills- feeling drunk?

Hi Ladies!  I graduated from my PIO shots to progesterone pills and suppositories.  My RE told me to take 1 pill at 5 p.m. and a second one before bed because they tend to make people feel sleepy.  Well, I took the first pill at 5 p.m. and by 5:30 I literally felt drunk!  I was sleepy and could barely walk.  I watched TV until 7 p.m., then took the second one and went to bed!

I have to function beyond 5 p.m. every evening (in fact most days I'm still at work until 7 p.m.).  Is it okay to take both pills before bed?  What did your doctor tell you?

Re: Progesterone Pills- feeling drunk?

  • Are you taking them orally or vaginally? I found I had way less side effects when I took the prometrium vaginally (and it worked better for me, too.)

  • Orally. Should I ask my dr. about taking them vaginally?

  • I was very woozy after taking them as well, and only took them right before bed per my doctor's instructions. I'm not sure about taking them together, but I would call your RE and ask them what they think. Since you have to work until 7 most nights, I would think it would be okay to push taking the first one off until at least after that. GL!

  • I take the supps 3x a day. In the morning before work, one at work mid-day and the last one at night right before bed. I've been feeling really tired but have not felt drunk.
