gd mamas or mamas with low iron- come in

Help me out here. I'm dealing with a small issue. This has happened to me a few times and always happens the same way and I need to know if I'm on the right track or if this is silly.

Today after I ate lunch (a grilled chicken sandwich from McDonald's) I felt fine. Then about 15-20 minutes later I got this really full feeling and I began to feel lightheaded. Now for the past 30 minutes to an hour I just feel really full and lightheaded. I don't know how to explain it, but it feels weird and I don't know what it could be. I just put in a call to the doctor, but does this sound familiar to any GD mamas or mamas with low iron. Just trying to pin-point any possibilities.

Re: gd mamas or mamas with low iron- come in

  • I have GD, and the only time I have ever felt lightheaded was after I started insulin, I took my morning dose with breakfast, and I felt lightheaded several hours after.  It turns out that my sugars were low and I needed to eat again.  What you are describing does not sound like GD to me, but I am no medical professional by any means.  I would talk to your doc.

  • Maybe it's a bp issue? I've been experiencing some similar lightheadedness after I eat and have hypertension and am on labetalol.

    Just a thought....

  • I would talk to your doctor.  I have both GD and low iron and haven't felt that way.  Hope you get some good answers from your dr.

  • I have GD and low iron. I have got light headed a few times and have seen blinky floaters right after. My doc said drink more water, make sure i am full and try to cut the salt a bit. She didn't seem overly concerned since my BP was fine and my sugars were in range.

  • Thanks ladies, I have spoken with my doc and she thinks it has something to do with either BP (which I've never had issues wiht) or the fact that I am not eating/drinking enough due to the fact that food makes me very full and sick. I have not had GD with my previous pregnancies and I'm hoping this time around is no different.
