  Bases expire too.

  I wouldn't buy from craigslist unless you trust the person with your child's life. There is no way of knowing (besides the person's word) whether or not the base has been involved in an accident, etc.

  It's no safer than buying a used car seat.  Bases expire too and you never know if it's been in an accident.  Look down a few posts.  I think someone posted earlier today about getting a base from Target for $40.

  Ok thanks ladies.  I saw that post but unfortunately I didn't have a target registry and didn't receive the coupon.  Thanks for the idea though!

  Buy Buy Baby will generally price match everyone else. Not 100% sure they'll match Targets online only price, but I would guess they would. And you can use a 20% off coupon there, plus if you have a store near you you can avoid shipping. Wouldn't hurt to ask!
