Yay congrats! I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. My midwife gave me some tips to aid in effacement... she said if I want I can start drinking raspberry leaf tea - a few cups a day. Just had my first cup and it was delicious. Here's hoping it helps - I'm ready for things to get moving!

I am 1 cm dilated, but not effaced 'much at all'. That was as of a week ago. Like you said, it doesnt make much difference as to when the baby actually comes, but since I was not quite a fingertip dilated when I my water broke and I went into labor with Jack, I feel like I have a little bit of a head start from last time! Ill take any help I can get!

Wow, yay !!! My next appt isn't until Monday so I have no clue how I'm doing. The MW's at my practice won't check internally until 39 weeks but the OB's check sooner (not sure why the mw's wait). I've started to request an OB so that I can start to at least have some clue how I'm doing.

Oh yay that's super exciting! With my first, when I first got checked at 36/37 weeks I was a fingertip dilated and 80% effaced. At my appt this time at 34 weeks nothing, but I go in on monday for my 36 so we'll see. I'd be surprised if there's wasn't some sort of progress based on how my BH's are changing along with the pressure. I hope I have 'some' sort of progress.
As of Thursday I was "a little more than" 2cm dialated and 70% effaced. She said my cervix was soft and 'inline'. Baby heads down. She said her guess was that I would be going in september and could go anytime... but she did warn that sometimes people just stall at this point and don't progress for a month.
Very possible. But then that messes up my master plan of having 13 weeks off for mat leave. If I deliver 9/30-10/2 I get 12 weeks PLUS the week between Christmas and NY since my office is closed.
When do they start checking? I know I was 2cm with my son for MONTH or more! then never got past a 6 with medical help.
They checked today for the first time (36 weeks) and said they will only do it every other week unless I request it. She said she liked doing a 36 week baseline to see how things change.
I went in for my 35 week visit last Friday. I had seen my MFM the day before and at 34 weeks. I mentioned that I had been feeling real contractions since the 33 week visit. The MFM told me that they were probably BH contractions. I laughed aloud and told him that I knew the difference and that I was having real contractions. When I told my OB, she said that she wanted to do an internal. My cervix is anterior (she didn't have to reach in very far...thankfully), it is soft, 80% effaced, and 3 cm dilated. LO is at a -3 station right now. She seemed concerned that LO could be here before 37 weeks. She will check me again this week when she does my GBS swab.
I've been completely effaced since my 34 week appt (we started internals early because of E) but not dilated and as of today baby girl was breech. We are waiting 2 more weeks for me to go back in and if she's still breech we will go ahead and book our csection. Unless she flips if I go into labor they'll just do a csection at the hospital, and it's pretty obvious where her head is so I'll know if she moves lol.
I am not effaced or dilated at all and I have been having contractions for 4 days that have been anywhere from 2 minutes to 7 minutes apart. They keep checking me and its always the same news. The OB said it is just prelabor pains/contractions that are getting me ready for labor. If that is the case I am NOT looking forward to actual labor..ouch!

I keep hovering between 3.5-4cm, 95-100% effaced, and 0 to +1 station. This little guy may make his debut in the next week.
Whoa! That's crazy.
I have officially been at this stage for about 3 weeks now... dr says the likelihood of me not delivering in the next 10-14 days is slim to none. At least it seems like the bed rest is helping me hold steady and I'm grateful he's been able to keep baking these last few weeks!
TTC #1 since 10/09:
