? for teachers and those working full-time regarding pre-school.

What did you do as far as transportation or what do you plan to do?  I'd love to send Justin to pre-school next year but we haven't a clue how we'll handle the transportation.  We really don't have anyone we can ask to commit to taking him.  I guess I feel like it's something we really have to do even though I feel he gets a lot from going to his sitter....socialization with the other kids, structure, etc.  I still need to see what's offered, as maybe I can find a place that has daycare as well.  I hate to leave my sitter though. 

Can any teachers tell me if they notice big differences between kids that go and kids that don't go?

    Have you thought about what you will do before/after school for them? If they are always going to need someone to get them on/off the bus - can they still do that from your sitter's? If not you'll have to move them anyway...unless you are planning on having a sitter in the am/pm or do a latch-key program though school.

    They can get on and off the bus at my sitter's.  At least I don't have that to worry about too!! :o)

    What if you just did a preschool/daycare two or three days a week and then the sitters the other days?

    Yes, there is usually a noticeable difference in kids who attend preschool/pre-k and those who do not. The socialization & routine will be different in a school-type setting. The instruction is also very valuable (knowing how to write his name, phone number, some letter sounds, etc) and knowing the structure of a classroom setting is very helpful.  Kindergarten is very much about adapting to the style/structure of school as well as the curriculum.  We can actually usually tell the kiddos who have gone to a preschool type program and those who have not just on the first day!

    I think that if you have the opportunity to allow him to go, you should. It can only help!
