we drive her every day. but we had to go through a drop off line, so I took pics at home. they had a kindie orientation the week prior and I was able to take pics at the school and in her classroom at that time.
Our school district does things a little different than most. On the first day of school which was last Thursday all the parents came with their children for "conferences." The kids got see their classroom, meet their teacher and drop off supplies. The parents then went to the gym for a presentation discussing the school year and what to expect etc while the kids stayed in the classroom and were read to and colored. It only lasted an hour and then everyone went home. DD1 didn't have school Friday, so today was her first real day of school and she rode the bus. That is what she wanted to do-she was super excited to ride the bus. DH was really disappointed to not see her get on the bus because he had to work. He took off for conferences, but would have rather seen her get on the bus.

That's awesome! I think every district should do that. As for us, there is no bussing unless you live more than a mile from the school. We live 5 blocks away, so we will be having someone drop him off (we have half-days and my school starts before his will). I will be taking off his first day, though, which will also likely be my first day back. Oh well, my kids come first.
Re: Clicky poll about kindergarten
I have to drive him/walk him to the door everyday. Eventually we'll do the car drop off but he's not ready for that yet.
We also have to go to the door for pickup.
Ditto this. It has been a week and a half of school.
