What mattress pad do you have on your toddler's bed?

We will be converting DS's bed to his full soon, and will be buying a new mattress. I need a waterproof mattress cover, but want one that will not feel plasticky, but still can be washed in a washer (and dryer? not sure if you can do that with the waterproof kind?).

Any that you rec or don't rec? Was thinking of just getting a cheap-o at Target, unless there were some bad ones out there.

we got the cheap-o from target and haven't had any problems with it.

We have a cheapo waterproof one from Target or Walmart, along with one of the plastic waterproof covers underneath it. If DS has an accident at night, he tends to soak the bed, and the plastic cover was the best thing we found to keep it from going through to the mattress. You cannot feel the plastic cover since there is another pad and fitted sheet on top of it.

we have something very similar that we got at mattress firm when we bought our king sized mattress. They said you could spill red wine on it and it wouldnt go through.

DS threw up in our bed this weekend and it soaked through the sheets, regular mattress pad and we could feel that this waterproof one was damp on the surface but it did not hit the mattress.

also, once i stripped it off to wash it, i could see that my mattress looked brand new while the regular mattress pad has disgusting sweat stains from my stinky husband

We have an inexpensive one from Target, it isn't crunchy at all. Be sure to buy 2. It's always good to have an extra one when potty training... (especially in the middle of the night)
