I was just curious to hear how much everyone's babies weighed at birth? I was at my prenatal appt. and the midwife was asking me how big all my babies were at birth and how big I was and my husband when we were born.
I had two sets of twins and their wieght was 4lb, 15 oz and 5lb. 1 oz (10lbs combined). And my other twins were 4 lbs, 14 oz, and 6lbs 3oz (11lbs 1 oz combined). Both my twins were weeks early, but still on the tiny side. I was only around 7 lbs myself and my hubby was over 9 lbs. She told me I have the capability of holding one huge baby if it wasn't twins again. I don't know if there really is a link to previous babies and if that determines how big your expected baby might be? I'm only 5'2 and kinda worried about having one big baby!
Anyone want to share their previous experiences or what their doctor has said about the topic?
Re: How much did your previous babies weigh at birth?
I'm only 5' tall and was 128 pp for my last pregnancy. My doctor thought I would have a big baby since DH is 5'11 and 350 lbs. DS weighed 7lb8oz and was 19.5 in long when he arrived at 39 weeks.
ETA: I was 5lb11 oz at birth and DH was 7lb8oz (same as DS)
I'm also worried of a big baby! I had a hard time carrying twins (mainly once I had more than 8 pounds inside me). My SIL (hubby's brothers wife) had a 9lbs baby boy. She is smaller than me, so I just keep thinking positive thoughts and hopefully my body will do what it needs to do if the baby is that big!
DD was born at 38 weeks: 6lbs 80z and 19 inches long
I was 7 something when I was born and Hubs was nearly 11lbs.

My BFP Chart
DD1 was 9lbs. 8oz. (42 weeks) and DD2 was 7lbs. 9oz. (40 weeks).
Most women can deliver most babies...I just had a friend who delivered (vaginally too) 8 pound twins (so 16 pounds total of baby!)
DS#1 was 6 lbs. 15 oz at 37 weeks. DS#2 was 8 lbs. 3 oz at 40 weeks. I was my mom's biggest baby but I don't know what my weight was. And I don't know how big DH was.
I'm 5'2", 120lbs pp, and my husband is 5'7". I was 7.5 pounds at birth, my husband was 6.5. My pregnancy was textbook, no diabetes, no high weight gain.
My child was 10 pounds, 21 inches when he was born.
So yeah, you just never know.
During my first pregnancy, the nurse who taught the baby classes said that it goes off of the husband's mother, but I would tend to disagree. It makes more sense that it would go off of your mother.
Either way, I was born around 6lbs. My husband came early and was around 5lbs. My daughter was born at 41 weeks 4 days, and she was 7lbs 7.9oz. The docs/midwife was pushing for an induction at 40 weeks 5 days, but I held out. Glad I did too!
I was 7 lbs 3 oz and 21.5", DH was 6 lbs 19". DS was 10 lbs 22" at 39 weeks. Hopefully this next one is smaller.
I once had a picture until the trolls showed up.

"If we weren't all crazy we would go insane."
8 lbs and 19 in but the doctor said that I was measuring 41 weeks when I went into labour.
I can see that there really is not a strong link between the baby's birth weight and the mother and fathers weight. I was wondering why the mw was asking me about our weights when we were born. Good job to all the ladies who had those big babies! It actually made me feel reassured and eased my mind about the possibility of having a big baby.
DS was 4lbs-15oz at 33 1/2 weeks gestation (I had severe pre-eclampsia and he was delivered early). My doctor predicted that he would have been between 8 and 9 pounds if born full term.
I was 7lbs-11oz at 4 weeks early and my DH is a twin and was still 8lbs!! Of course, DH and his brothers are all at least 6'3" and his sisters are each 5'9" and taller.
AMEN!
This. I am pretty small and I had a 9lb 3oz baby girl. They told me she would be around 7lbs. You really never know until they're here.
