1st Trimester

Clothes REALLY don't fit

I'm just 8 weeks today, but my jeans have not fit since I found out I was pregnant on 8/11... I keep reading all of these people post how they haven't gained any weight (I've gained only 2-3 pounds) and how they wear their regular clothes till they are seven months pregnant... there are other types of bodies out there too everyone!  I feel like I haven't seen anyone post about their body changing so quickly... But if you are like me, be happy and let your belly shine!  Just wanted to share... BTW- if you are one of the lucky ladies that can get away with keeping your body shape, congrats!  Everyone is unique and special, I'm not going to knock you for having great genes! Wink

Re: Clothes REALLY don't fit

  • Yeah, it is really amazing how hormones shift the weight all around changing curves dramatically but not really doing anything to the scale.

  • This is my second one and I have literally only gained 2-3 pounds...and it fluctuates...but it's because I am gaining and varying all around my pant line.  I will be buying maternity pants probably this week because my pants just hurt to have on.  But with my daughter I wore my normal pants until I was about 6 months preggo...7 if I used a rubber band as a button...I miss those days!

  • I normally weigh 105, but now I'm only 100. My stomach has grown a little and any pants I have that were on the tighter side before, I can't wear now. I asked my Dr about it and he said it was my metabolism changing and it's common to loose weight eventhough you're gaining in certain areas.

I'm excited to have my bump and can't wait, but I know after I have the baby, I won't love the extra anymore haha

  • I have a similar situation. I just bought maternity pants myself because I am busting the buttons on my jeans. Allegedly I have only gained 5-8 pounds, but I also have bloating and am retaining water like nobody's business. I say you should do whatever is comfortable for you, especially if you get "morning" sickness and can't stand much abdominal pressure.

  • Yeah, it is really amazing
  • same here. I gained maybe 3 lbs and my pant are already tight. It is all in my belly too and when I usually gain weight it is never there. I think i will be busting out some maternity pants this week. My regular pants that use to be big aren't even remotely comfortable anymore.

  • I can't wear my jeans comfortably anymore. I can't button them! I have only gained 1 pound.

  • Same here...I had a bit of a breakdown with the DH yesterday when I couldnt find anything besides yoga pants to go with him to the golf course in.  That was fun.  Finally broke down and went to the teeny tiny maternity section in Walmart to get a bella band and a pair of jeans that have elastic on the sides that should get me through for a while....
  • I am 6 and a half weeks and have been wearing my belly band for the last week. I have to wear dress pants for work, and I can't even come close to buttoning them anymore. Crazy how fast our body starts transitioning!! With my 1st pregnancy, I didn't have to wear maternity clothes until 7 months. The belly band is awesome!! I have the one from Target and it works like a dream. In my 1st pregnancy, I even wore it with maternity pants late in my pregnancy, it gave me that extra support on my belly that I felt like I needed.

  • I have been having the same problem. I am out of my size 0 pants and now into a size 3.  I have gained like 5-6lbs already. I feel huge and its only the begining. I haven't busted out the maternity clothes yet but i feel its coming sooner then i thought! This is my second child and i hear you get bigger the second time around....

  • Yeah - 3 lbs were gained I swear, the day that I peed on a stick!  And I feel incredibly bloated around the belly.  I think my pants are not going to make it much longer.

  • I broke down tonight and bought maternity pants from Old Navy - everything at the outlet was 40% off and my belly is so very happy now... just thought I would share!

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem! I'm only 5 weeks and have no pants that fit. I carry most of my weight in my midsection anyway, and had gained about 20 lbs before I got pregnant. :( I also have a short waist, so even low rise jeans hit just below my belly button. Now with the added bloat, I can't fit into any jeans. I'm going today to try to find some elastic waist pants, but I may have to get some maternity jeans if I can't find anything else. I'm sure my hubby would love it, but I can't just go around naked.
  • elastic waist skirts are awesome!
