I struggled big time with BFing as well as PPD with Austin. I have recently heard if Postpartum Dula's and I was thinking of hiring someone. Does anyone have experience with one?
My doula wasn't specifically a postpartum one, but because I ended up having a scheduled c-section last minute she agreed to help out post baby.
It was great - she stayed with us in the hospital until I got out of bed the first time and nursing seemed to be going okay [5 hours after surgery? not sure]. Then she came over after family cleared out at home, giving K a bath and me a 45 minute or so nap. The biggest benefit was having someone to talk to that wasn't family and I trusted, so I felt I could say anything and not be judged. That was huge when you were in that initial haze and struggling with the emotional rollercoaster.
