Anyone else still "tender" 5 months PP? (TMI)

So LO is almost 5 months old and I am still tender down there. I notice it most when DH and I DTD but it even hurts to put in a tampon. I am surprised that it is still tender because I didn't tear at all. Anyone else still have some discomfort this far out?

  • I haven't needed to use a tampon yet :). It is still tender when we DTD though. I think that is pretty normal.

  • It hurts so much to put a tampon in! DH and I barely have time DTD. On the very rare occasions when DS is asleep as a reasonable time and not fighting sleep with all his might we try to sneak in a secession and it hurts like a mo fo! I did tear a lot or tt could be lack of using it  poor lady parts :0(... they need some loving ;0)

  • I'm not to 5 months yet, but I don't see myself being completely healed anytime soon. It doesn't hurt to use a tampon, but it does to DTD. Certain positions aren't so bad, but there is one spot outside where I tore that hasn't completely healed. I put which hazel on it every day but I don't know if that's helping or not.

  • Aw, man. I thought it'd be getting better soon. I'm only about 4 months PP and yes, tampons are horrible. Sex can be uncomfortable sometimes, the best feeling to describe it is as though I'm pushing down on a bruise but tampons, UGH.

  • Yes. I also still have a v. small amount of bleeding, too.

My obgyn said that it's normal (had my annual exam 3 weeks ago) and that it'll take some time.  She saw the area that causes the problems and said it's still pretty red.  (I had a bunch of stitching there)

  • I'm in the still 'tender' club. and I had a C-Section. Talk about things I didn't expect...

  • I am just starting to feel better.  I had two, albeit only first degree, tears, but my nurse said that it can take 6 months to a year for the nerve endings to get back to normal, even though the tears themselves have healed.  I went in for my annual asking why it still hurt, and she informed me of the two tears.  I knew I was stitched, but since I had an episiotomy w/DD, I figured it was the same this time around.  I figured that explained a lot.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • I'm 4 months pp and still pretty tender.  (I did have a level 2 tear.)  I think some of the pain or sensitivity may just be in my head because I'm so afraid to re-tear it or to get hurt.  Let's hope it goes away soon!

  • I barely tore and the couple of stitches I had were healed by my 6-week appt. However, I am still store. For me, it's the actual pelvic bones down there that feel sore or bruised.

  • If you are breastfeeding, that can contribute to pain because of the hormone changes that occur during lactation.  You can ask your OB about trying an estrogen cream to use.

And yeah, I am 4 months pp and things are not back to normal yet.
