Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ??? 9/5/2011
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? They had their first haircut on the weekend! They did really well, too. It's funny how much less they look like babies now. *sniffle*
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 18 month checkup
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?(5) What do you sing to (if anything) to LOs - in utero, at bedtime, other times? Nursery rhymes, made up songs (I make up a lot of silly songs about what we're doing at the time, often to the tune of the Wiggles' Hot Potato).
(6) What is a typical day with your LO? How long is he/she awake at one stretch? Let's see...
7.00/7.30am get up (they're awake earlier, but 7-7.30am is the official "it's morning and we get out of bed" time)
7.30/8am breakfast
9am playtime/run errands
10.30am snack
11.30/11.45am lunch
12/12.30 nap
2pm-ish up from nap
2.30pm snack
3pm playground
4.30pm sometimes a second snack, always quiet play (e.g., blocks - they often get fussy leading up to dinner and need a confined activity)
6pm dinner
7pm bath, book and bed
(7) Was there anything you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? Hmm. Well, we started them on solids at 5 months - they clearly wanted more food, and I saw no reason to deny them at that point.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 22 months
(2) How are you feeling? Actually, I reached my 30lb loss milestone last week on Weight Watchers! YAY! Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? for LB, I think he just says new words all the time. Oh, he counted - 1,2,3! That was unexpected and exciting!
(3) Next appointment date? 2 yr checkup
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? the kid did not want to go to sleep last night - but mostly it's been the separation anxiety - he's been pretty clingy - we have a sitter finally - YAY! But he even cries when she leaves.
(5) What do you sing to (if anything) to LOs - in utero, at bedtime, other times? Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs (this amazingly still works to calm him down), Wheels on the Bus, BINGO, Old McDonald, Hokey Pokey, even regular songs just in a softer tone.
(6) What is a typical day with your LO? How long is he/she awake at one stretch? He usually wakes up around 7, and I try to coax him into staying in bed until 7:15 or so. Then we change diaper, change out of PJs and go downstairs and get milk - sometimes he will eat a breakfast bar or some fruit, sometimes not. Then he plays until he poops and I change him and we wake up Daddy so Mommy can get a shower and get ready for work.
I'll have to have MH fill in the day part. But on weekends, we watch TV - sometimes he wants to watch his (current) favorite movie, Lemonade Mouth and we dance during the songs.
That's fun. Or if we have errands to run, I"ll do some then, or we'll go to the pool, or a class at the rec center. We'll do lunch around 12-12:30 and then naptime after that - I usually have him in bed by 1-1:15. After nap, we change diaper and play/read. Sometimes I"ll be on the computer or washing dishes or doing laundry and he plays alone, other times we play together or take a walk or go run errands with Daddy.
I get home around 6:30 and usuallyhe's had his dinner milk already. He goes up with me to get changed and I usually change his diaper then too - then we go back downstairs and eat and play until 8ish when I take him up for bath/bedtime routine.
(7) Was there anything you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? We still bedshare. He will pretty much not sleep unless he is touching another warm body - he's been that way since birth.
yay!! CONGRATS! that is a huge accomplishment.
Lil A will say "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10!!!!!" LOL I cannot seem to get her to squeeze 7 & 8 into there, no matter how hard I try LOL

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Tired. had some long work days and I'm a little sleep deprivedMiss A is giving commands and saying short sentences now
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?she'll have her 2 yr appt in 2 monthsre: exciting stuff coming up - we just booked a trip to go to west palm beach FL so I'm excited about that. we have a home that we are staying in for free so all we had to do was pay for flights/car rental. aside from hanging out at the beach/pool, looks like there is a fair amount of kid-friendly activities to do there too!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?she had the sitter put her to bed again (2nd time in the last month, but only 3rd or 4th time overall)....she seems to have this anxiety or fear of abandonment associated with it
(5) What do you sing to (if anything) to LOs - in utero, at bedtime, other times?nursery rhymes, common kids' songs (i.e. wheels on the bus, head/shoulders/knees/toes, farmer in the dell, old macdonald, etc)
(6) What is a typical day with your LO? How long is he/she awake at one stretch?she usually wakes up between 7:15-8:15am....she will lay in her crib or sit up and play quietly by herself for a while (letting mommy sleep - yay!) until about 8:30 or so. on days that I go to work I will get her up about 15 min before I have to leave to nurse her before I leave.

(7) Was there anything you did against popular opinion that worked for your family?not sure if it's "against popular opinion" or not but we are doing extended nursing. I never thought we would....in fact I never thought we'd even make it to 6 months....but it has been good for us and I've enjoyed it a lot

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
Libby is 19.5 months and I am 21w3d pregnant.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Libby is consistently counting from 1-20 these days and has learned her left from her right. The girl is blowing our minds! We took her to the pedi (she got her Hep A and Flu shot) and even she commented on her advanced skills. I think I need to find a 1-2 day/week preschool program because she's just desperate to be around other kids and wants to learn, learn, learn! So...I am looking into our options.
She's also using 2-3 word "sentences" now which has helped lessen her frustrated meltdowns, thank goodness. She's adjusted remarkably well to being in our new house and has STTN here from the very first night.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Had the BIG u/s today...got emotional when we heard his heartbeat. He's doing great...two days "ahead" of his EDD and exactly 1 lbs. He's measuring long too...no surprise there though.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
It's been a pretty good week. I guess my biggest challenge is getting used to living in two-story home with a toddler. She wants to be carried up/down the stairs most of the time and being PG makes that more of a challenge. We've taught her to scoot down the steps and crawl up them, but she'll already fallen down the stairs and I think that's definitely spooked her. We installed gates the next day but I still feel awful that she basically rolled (on her side) from the top to the bottom of our 15 (carpeted) stairs. Gratefully she didn't get hurt at all, but it totally scared her.
(5) What do you sing to (if anything) to LOs - in utero, at bedtime, other times?
When Libby was in utero I found myself singing opera arias that would just come into my head (mind you I had stopped singing professionally two years before we TTC). So she heard lots of Puccini, Verdi and Mozart! At bedtime I usually sing "Twinkle, twinkle" and/or "You are my sunshine." The latter I also use to calm her down during the day (I'll sing it softly in her ear if she's melting down and it'll distract her long enough to stop). Sometimes I sing "Wonderful World" at bedtime too. Other songs we sing during the day are "Itsy Bitsy Spider" "ABCs" "Pat-a-Cake" "If You're Happy and You Know It" "Oh Mister Sun" "A Tisket A Tasket" and other kiddie tunes. I guess Little Mister is hearing all of this too...
(6) What is a typical day with your LO? How long is he/she awake at one stretch?
I work weekdays so typically I don't see her untl 3:30-4:00 p.m. We usually play/read/sing until 4:30 p.m. or so and then I start to get dinner ready. I try to have her eat by 5 p.m. if not, then I give her a snack around 4:00 p.m. and we have dinner around 6 p.m. She's been interesting in domestic chores so I've been having her "help" me do the dishes, laundry, sweep, etc. Around 7-7:30 p.m. we do a bath, followed by lotion, pjs/diaper and read/play soft music and get ready for bedtime. I try to have her in her crib (awake but sleepy) between 8-8:30 p.m.
She typically wakes around 8 a.m. has breakfast around 9 a.m. a snack around 10:30/11 a.m. and then lunch at 12-12:30 p.m. She's been napping from about 1:30-3:30 p.m. During the week she's home with my mom and they play outside (wagon, trike, water plants, sidewalk chalk, local park, etc.), read books, play with toys, sing songs, etc. I pretty much do the same thing and/or run errands with her when I am home with her all day on the weekends.
(7) Was there anything you did against popular opinion that worked for your family?
Cloth diapering, parttime ECing, breast feeding, bedsharing, baby-led weaning, nursing while PG, baby wearing, alternative vax schedule...mainly "crunchy mama" stuff.
(8) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? Tips from mamas of two or more...how do you manage the day-to-day with TWO (or more) littles?TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
