Crosley/Crosby

In the past six-nine months, I have heard several people I know (or know through other people) name their child Crosley or Crosby (one girl Crosley and the rest boys).  I don't get this.  Anyone else seeing/hearing this?  Thoughts on the trend?

FTR-not a fan at all.

    I haven't heard it around here at all. Are your friends musicians?

    Crosley is a major record player/turntable brand. Crosby reminds me of the singer Bing Crosby.

    No, they are not.  These people are not close friends.  It just seems like everyone is popping out a Crosley/Crosby around here.

    Crosby is a famous really good Hockey player so I am sure that is part of what sparked that name to life. My Brother huge hockey fan named his dog that so it is hard for me to picture it as a baby name

    A good friend of mine has a sister named Crosby. She's 24. She was named because her mom was a big Crosby Stills and Nash fan!

    Hmm  I have not heard of that name yet and oddly enough I'm from PIttsburgh where Sidney Crosby (PGH Penguins) is really popular.

    I friend of mine likes the name Crosby for a future baby.  She also like Allegra for a girl.  Definitely NMS.

    I knew a girl in college with the fn Crosby. It was a family name, so her mom wasn't trying to be trendy. Her sisters had common names like Katherine, etc. I thought the name fit her perfect, so I'm a fan :)

    Ugh.  Only if it's a family name.  I hate the *faux* family last name trend.  Why name a child a last name that's not in your family?
