I don't know how to dress this new body

Anyone else really struggling with clothing options? I've lost most of the baby weight (have about 8lbs to go) but my body is just differently shaped now. My butt is smaller but I have some belly fat, which is new for me. Plus I have these huge, leaky breasts to manage since I'm EBFing! I'm hesitant to buy new stuff until I'm back to my pre-preg weight but my OB still doesn't want me exercising for several more weeks...so I'm living in big ol' yoga pants and nursing tanks and I feel so sloppy and unnattractive. Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful to have been pregnant and to be holding this precious miracle in my arms. Sorry this turned into a vent! Please tell me I'm not alone in these feelings :/

  • You are not alone at all!!  I actually weigh less than I did before I got pregnant and my regular clothes still don't fit right.  I can't get some of my pants over my hips yet, my stomach is still flabby and my boobs are huge!  I agree that my whole body type has changed, I love that I have lost so much weight ( I gained 22 while pregnant but I have lost 40), but I have no idea what to wear and I don't want to spend a ton of money on new clothes.  I have no suggestions, but know that you are not alone!

  • Yes! I feel like I'm living in nursing tanks. Finally I swapped out the yoga pants for some maternity capris just so I didn't feel so frumpy. I've lost at least 15 of the 25 pounds I gained but I'm too afraid to try on real clothes just yet. Plus, my c-section incision is still tender so I'm not ready for things to be uncomfortable. I can't wait to loose this weight and get in some real clothes again.

  • I feel the same way. I've lost more weight than I gained while PG (gained 15 and lost 23 so far) but my clothes don't fit right either. I'm also BFing and finding clothes that are BF friendly is not easy. Plus I mostly wore jeans and t-shirts before getting PG and t-shirts are really hard to BF in public in. I don't want to buy new clothes because I'm hopin to lose more weight, but it's hard being in sweat pants and nursing tanks all the time!

  • I am really stuck as well!  I have lost the weight but body shape is different my pants and things don't fit right!  I am still wearing maternity jeans when I go out but its hard to find longer tops that cover the stretchy top portion.

I agree BF makes its hard as well.  I have found that a tank top underneath a shirt is pretty easy.  I pull the shirt up, and then the tank top down under my breast and I'm pretty covered.

Has anyone found a good bra that doesn't make your boobs look horrible?  With the bad bra plus nursing pads so I don't leak my boobs look horrible in most shirts!

  • Go to ON and try on some dresses. I've been living in them!

  • I hear yah-I have a feeling that all my high end denim that I own are going to be on ebay soon. These hips dont lie, I have had a baby and there is no way in hell I am going to button them up again. And I have already lost 20 out of the 30 I gained.

  • I HATE the way I am feeling lately. I gained 60 pounds (I know) and have lost about 25 so far. I stopped BFing, though, and the weight loss stopped right along with it. I am still feeling swollen. My DH is so sweet and continuously tells me that I don't look like I still weight as much as I do, but I can't wear anything non-maternity on the bottom other than running shorts and sweatpants. I can't wait for my 6 week PP appointment next week so that I can start my workouts to lose this weight!

  • I feel the exact same way. I hope that I will be able to get into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but I know it will be awhile. I only have a couple of options other than nursing tanks and yoga pants. It makes me feel like such a slob. Also, I am not used to the belly fat either. Once I get the OK, I am hoping that exercise will help with that.

  • While I can fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans just fine, my pre-pregnancy shirts are a WHOLE different story!

I went to the Thrift Store last weekend and got some new tops. It really made me feel much better about myself, and the clothing was inexpensive.

  • I am SO glad to hear that other people are having the same issues that I am.  I wasn't aware that hips changed so much during pregnancy. I've always been more "boyish" in the hips and butt, so this is completely new to me.  I can't get my jeans past my thighs - due to my hips being wider.  My boobs are HUGE. I hate them. I'm BF, so they are going to be this way for awhile, but I just find them so unattractive. I also feel that they make me look larger since they are so gigantic.

For those of you second time moms, do the hips go back to pre pregnancy width or am I stuck with wider hips?

  • I'm definitely in the same boat.  I didn't think my hips would get any wider since this is my second go 'round, but they did.  I'm not significantly chunkier at this point - I've dropped a ton of my baby flub.  But, like a lot of PP, I can't get even my biggest pre-pregnancy jeans past my thighs right now!  Even my scrubs fit awkwardly, they're extra tight around the booty now.  I have one tank top and one pair of sweatpants that I practically live in.  It's the pits!  But I know I'm in no shape yet (no pun intended) to think about losing the inches, so I guess I'll just have to get over it for now, lol.

Right after having Quentin, my hips were SUPER wide and nothing fit. After about a year postpartum, they got back down to almost the way they were pre-pregnancy...just slightly wider.

So it may take awhile, but there is hope Smile

  • I am in the exact situation as you (except for the smaller butt, lol)....8 lbs left to loose, but still 2 weeks till I can exercise.  I am still wearing my maternity jeans because they are just more comfortable.  I can button my pre-pregnancy jeans, but sit down.....that is very uncomfortable.  Right now I love maxi dresses
