TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Clomid & AF

*sigh*  Princess Period showed up...in full force!  The bad news...of course, AF was post a BFN and a very Negative Nancy --> *points to self*.  Also, my cramps have been some of the worst ever!  I used to have really bad cramps in high school and every few months.  But this time, I was practically doubled over all day, rocking myself back and forth to keep my mind off of the pain, and practically attached to my heating pad.  I slept with it all night last night.  Cramps went away this morning, AF showed up around noon, and I've had those bad cramps ever since.  Could this be b/c I actually ovulated?  Where as the past 9 months I havent' been.  Or could this be a "side affect" of taking Clomid this cycle?  I am miserable. A BFN and AF are bad enough...add all the emotions and 10x the pain...

The good news for this cycle (trying to stay positive), I ovulated!  And I also had a 14 LP.

Thanks for letting me vent...again.  Any ideas on the cramping?  If this keeps up I'll be talking to my doc about that too.  Nothing helps.  It just has to pass. :(

Re: Clomid & AF

  • I would probably say it's because you actually ovulated, but I am in no way sure. Clomid doesn't give me many cramps, i'm not sure about others though.

Refresh my memory... the past 9 months you haven't ovulated, but did you have AF? My annovulatory cycles, the ones where AF showed on her own were very light... the other one, the one brought on by provera, was heavy and lots of cramping.

  • I also got AF after my first round of clomid, and I ovulated too (yay us!) and I also had some of the worst cramps I've had in years!! Don't know why, it could be due to the ovulation, and the fact that clomid helps to build up a good lining. I feel your pain girl, advil and heating pads are what got me through.

Yes, I've been having AF with anywhere from 30 - 38 cycle days with no distinct symptoms of O and no positive OPK's.  My doctor agreed that I was just shedding the lining but not actually O'ing.  My previous cycles were light to medium only lasting 4 - 5 days.  This AF has been heavy since day 1.  And the cramps have been coming and going but pretty constant.  It's just wearing me out....

  • From my experience, I would also say that it is probably because you ovulated.  I took clomid for a few cycles at differnt times, and if anything, AF was much lighter than before.  I do agree, if this continues and you are in this much pain, I would def..talk to your doc.

  • So sorry about AF - Stupid witch!!! I am not sure if the cramps are a s/e...I never really noticed bad ones after my clomid cycles. I hope you're feeling better by now.
